I can see this is rapidly becoming the trueSpace 7 forum.

In the old forum, there seemed to be a lot of new users or users who didn't use the software often enough to be familiar with its usage so they appeared often enough to keep most all versions alive and with faithful users.

This forum appears to have taken another approach and the rest of us with orphanware are just out of luck.

Non-support of older software may be a reason why you don't see other people here?

Not a very good way to build or keep a user base by abandoning customers with previous versions.

Guess I better tuck my 4 year old software under my arm and move on once again. [no worries I have other brands of spanking new 3D modeling software.)

Alas, my 3D work is not static nor does it shine, glow or have the constraints of a room.

Okay, now you can commence bludgeoning this post.

I won't start in on the post, but I will point out that the new forums have a section dedicated to tS6.6 and older.

And if there are any questions about your particular version of trueSpace, I'm almost certain someone here will provide an answer. I haven't seen any posts go unanswered, at least.

It is certainly not intentional. You make it sound like users of older versions are restricted from posting in some way. Your perception of the forums stem from the sheer amount of posts regarding TS7; Caligari cannot make users of older versions post if they don't want to...

You'd have to point the finger of blame for your perception at the users of tS6.x and below, not the forum. If the users don't post, it's their fault.

Hi James, FWIW you have been a great encouragement to me, even though I have TS7..

I looked at your previous post and didn't find anyone ignoring your questions. For some people YOU might be the teacher. Keep it up.

What's the "cut-off" version for people to register and post in the forums?

No cut-off version. Only condition of ability to register on these forums is that the user be a Caligari customer. There are folks who have signed up for the forum who only ever purchased trueSpace1 or 2. As long as you can be identified as a Caligari customer, registration is approved.

That's good to hear. I thought BrianAldridge was having trouble signing up at one point because he had an old version of TS or something.

Yep, there is no cut off. And we welcome, and would encourage, users of all versions to post. We are as happy to see a WIP done in tS4 as in tS7, and as happy to try to answer "how do I...?" and "why does this....?" for any version!

The same is true of our users, who are also more than happy to answer problems, give solutions, share tips etc with older versions (since many of them started on those older versions themselves).

If there are few posts from the older versions and lots of posts about tS7, it is certainly not to do with anything we're doing here at Caligari, but simply a reflection of what the user community is doing. It just means that many of the more vocal people on these forums are tS7 users now.

But please do post about any version of tS! I can only help as far back as tS2, which was my first version - have never seen tS1 up and running even!

HTH!

Tom

-KeithI was, it wasn't because I had an older version, it was that it was a freebie, making me a visitor. Now if I can get a job this summer......
