Okay, after much deliberation I've decided for the Interim that the following will be my approach to animation.

I chose Puppeteer. Why? It is a small tsx and works well in tS66. Another reason are the videos by 3DBuzz on the Elf in GameSpace. Talk about a quality salesperson. If I had to sell a product, I would choose 3DBuzz to be my spokesman.

Anyway, there will be a new version of Puppeteer (version 3.0) that will allow the import of BVH. I already have Poser 4 and 6 which can export BVH files, so I'm in good shape(been collecting massive numbers of BVH files.) I'll write Greg (the designer and programmer) to perhaps give the ability to Puppeteer to export BVH as well.

It will be a challenge in tS66 and it is still laden with bugs and some (cough) interesting programming.

For instance, I made a simple cylinder for making a worm to slink around tS66. I was tired and accidently clicked the nail off target outside of the model and bones. BAM!! tS66 crashes instantly, the scene disappears from my hard drive and acted like it never existed.

Doesn't anyone know how to write an error trapping routine? I mean geeze.

And no Puppeteer wasn't even running, it was just me and tS66 native bones.

Anyway, I've decided on this course for the interim. We'll see about tS7.5 and if it is revolutionary or perhaps resolutionary. :D

Enough verbosity, time to get animating. My models are collecting dust and my animating finger is getting itchy. Only a few months in the world of 3D and I'm ready to roll. Got my terrain making down, my apps fired up and post production is primed. No time to wait on the bus, I'm running to the State Fair! :)

More power to you Jamesmc. Make sure you post us the results.

Have you spoken to Greg direct? The last update on BlackKnight (makers of Puppeteer 2.6) was in August 2004. I thought they'd all but closed up shop.

Not really, but I have emailed him about the product. If he has no interest in furthering the product, that's fine with me. I like the simple interface of Puppeteer and it will work fine for me in tS.
