Title says it all, I know its a competing product, but a lot of people use Daz models in their work and I have to say that I am a bit astonished at this news...

Garion this may not be such a bad thing.

Carrara has its good points and may one day come down in price because of this. In the end it may be good for the 3D community.

To be honest it is a 'bad thing', in imo, because now there maybe even fewer 3d softwares out there for the public to work with. MAX owns MAYA and now DAZ gets Eovia's american branch. It's very unlikely that either MAYA or HEXAGON will continue or have much of a future. But the way I understand what DAZ is doing will put it in direct competition with Caligari because it looks like they are planning a 3D suite. A nice render engine and a superb model set both under the umbrella of a hobbyist content company......

I like it!

Just puts more weight on TS 7.5

Character animation tools are going to have be very very near state-of-the-art so that TS does not get lost in the shuffle.

Content,content,content..in lue of that..tools, tools, tools

I just never thought that Daz had the clout to do such a thing, but then again they must be making a mint off all their model sales.

I was never a Carrarra user really, I have version 2.x that came free with 3D world magazine, but as of yet I have not had a chance to look at it much. But Hexagon 2 was something I was keeping tabs on, just out of curiosity really.

I wonder what is going to happen to Amapi as that was not taken over in the deal...

There is no doubt that 'We are living in interesting times' ;)

You said it 'G'...

Content , content, content..can never get enough quality content.

One would assume DAZ is in the process of skinning and rigging all those nice models for Carrara as we speak.

I have little to no knowledge of the tool set in Carrara so that process may involve new tools etc.

Good luck to them... I have many DAZ models and always found them worth the price.
