Well i love Truespace and have been a user for awhile. I would like to know if there is a record or database somewhere that has information on any institution that teaches 3D with TrueSpace. I have looked into AI(Art institute) but they use Maya and 1. thats expensive 2. Not at all similar to Truespace and i would like to stick with TS. Anyone?

I live in Beaverton, OREGON, US. Any help or guidance is appreciated. I can only learn so much from a video course and book.

I've never seen any school(college & uni) teach 3D with TS. I have 'heard' that some teachers use it for middle - High schoolers.

If your looking at higher education then you'll have to learn other programs.

I've looked high and low for such a place, they don't exist that I am aware.

Having an academic venue of your software is always a boon as it brings more loyal customers.

Often wonder why there aren't more online academies of software. I suppose cost may be a factor in the start up. With that said, there are online teaching websites that do very very well.

If I was a younger man, I'd start accumulating tutorials, methods, etc. and re-make them in my own style.

You know, the old saying, "Learn one, Do one, Teach one."

Hi JaimeS!

What type of work do you plan to do with trueSpace? (ie. stills or motion?) I ask because this would be one determining factor.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

As for FRANK...i plan on doing illustrations, but i am interested in continuing animation. Currently i am starting up a video production business and it would be nice to be able to design a logo in 3d and have other addition as such. Also the idea of making my own Matrix parody sounds fun. :D

Anyway, i am the type of person that learns better visually with the addition of being able to ask questions as the demonstration is taking place. I have looked in many places and found nothing.

Ok i typed this before and got erased so i will summerize. - - I was attracted to TS7 because of Collaboration. This tool would allow someone else (Anyone of you) to help me learn to make objects that i could not fiure how to make. Or learn new skills, with you being in another country such as Splinters. But sadly not included...no complaints though....i love TS7 anyway. Cant wait for updates

What would be handy for folks in your situation is a way for tS7 users to connect directly to each other. One user runs tS7 as a server/host and then clients (you and other students, for instance) can all connect to their IP as opposed to needing an account for Caligari's shared space.

I've never looked at the Realtime Collaboration feature myself, but I understand currently this isn't possible.

This thread is the very reason that collaboration will work. When trueplay launches in next few weeks it will be possible to go through any process of modelling and record it then provide you with that recording which you can watch, pause and rewind at your leisure. When Shared space is finalised we can take it a step further. If TS7 were installed in a few more schools I could make a killing with online 'live' tuition....;)

Cue irony there.....

I believe this was the intention of shared space; that users will eventually be able to host their own space and allow users to connect. Not sure what current plans are though....

I have had a mess around in SS with Norm and Roman-very addictive fun.:D

Does shared space mean that you could like show someone else how to do something or change something on the screen to see what they think, or what!

Splinters, "When trueplay launches in next few weeks it will be possible to go through any process of modelling and record it then provide you with that recording which you can watch, pause and rewind at your leisure"

Does this mean we will also see the tools or icons selected during playback?

Also as a suggestion to Caligari to support new users: Besides having your live training and your Pro Training Sessions. Create an area on your site for free training using trueplay supplied by users. You would then be covering all levels of users. Also make it that your demo version of TS7 can use them also because at some point that user will want to buy it.
Like Apple did in the 80's you've got to look at schools and training aides. Splinters or myself would be good examples. If you check these Forums you'll find people begging for educational tools they can afford. Free educational lessons would then be supplied by us the users. I started using TS because it was easy and fun. I continue to use it for the same reasons. For the new users out there make it easy and fun!

P.S.(This would only work if we can actually show tools and icons being used as we teach)
PPS (I mentioned Splinter's name as an example of another Educator and wasn't volunteering his efforts)

How true. The more free learning resources are available, the more people will consider buying a software. If I'm not sure if I should buy a software and have to pay for courses to get started I rather look for something else. Money is not growing on trees. The records working in the demo sounds like a great idea.

At the moment tools do not show in my version of trueplay but that may well be the way I have set it up. Either way, I will put it to the developer's.

In the meantime-in-between time, any aspiring tutorial writers can download Wink and start pumping out Flash or html tutorials in a snap.
Find Wink here. (http://www.debugmode.com/wink/)

(hat-tip to Alain Bellon for finding this)

<edit: also ouputs PDF and exe format tutorials.>
