The "final" version of VRAY? Does anyone know when it is going to be released. They said a month after the initial release of TS7... did they not?

Thanks,

Brett

If you wait for the "final" version, you must be never got it. Because it still improve time by time (new version still release after last version, new version will be release after last version, new version still release after last version, new version will be release after last version .....) LOL.

But if you wait for lasted known as stable version for tS, it already in our hand. Because it the only one VRAY for tS that already released to public by caligari at the moment. LOL.

If you wait for the next version, don't know when it'll be release. I also in wait for that. when? When? WHen? WHEn? WHEN? (Hope not in near next several weeks because there're many things need to add and fix. otherwise their will gambling with thier reputation). LOL.

I really don't understand this Engrish you speak. LOL! I'm guessing English is not you first language?

What I was talking about, was that Caligari, specifically said that the version of VRAY included with TS7 was not the full version. They said that it would be available a month after the intial release of TS7, which would include subsurface scattering, etc. That is what I am wondering about, cause as it stands now VRAY is pretty optionless.

mrbrett, why don't you post a message in Italian so we can all have a laugh?

Back to the topic: I'm not very pleased with the way VRay is implemented right now either. I'm not waiting for new render options (e.g. DOF), I'm waiting for a useful set of shaders which will look good under VRay. Unfortunately the standard Lightwave shaders don't translate well, let alone Darktree et al.

For the past two or three years, this was the main reason I hardly got beyond the experimental stage with Virtualight. I was hoping that these excellent renderers being promoted to "native" status meant we'd be provided with an adequate selection of shaders (and I don't mean the DX9 variety).

I´m sure caligari works hard to being us a good upgrade and it will released when it is finish.

Caligari have a hard job with it to don´t loose old TS users.

I have heare from 2 users that give back the TS7 version but i am sure they both will see the error that they do with it when the upgrade will released.

and excuse my poor english, isn´t my native languange .. :jumpy:

Reason why I'm still using ts6.6. I was so excited when I heard that it was possilbe to write our own lightworks shaders. When I found out that most of the new glammour is DX9 based I was really disappointed. How can we use the dx shaders if we can't render them out? Is it just to have eyecandy in the player view?

I also tried to create LW shaders as mentioned in the manual, but TS7 looked up all the time. For now I'm just watching the progress on ts7 and stick to 6.6 until there is more solid stuff to work with.

You're right. English is my third language :)

What? You don't understand what I mean? :( (I mean: "Full version of VRAY for tS7 still in development. Just give the dev team more time to dev it.")

GraySho, I agree with you about "eyecandy in the player"

And I think that better if the player view is move into Model view. (become one of the view mode) :D

Johny hit the nail right on the head here. I've been enjoying TS7, but the player and model view do really seem fractured in a way that leaves the program feeling needlessly complex. I mean, the necessity of the bridge really says it all. You really could put the functionality of the player into one button and a tool panel or two in the "Classic" TS interface that we're all used to. Why weren't you on the beta team Johny?

Of course, the model vew still supports OpenGL, Software Rendering, and some older version of DirectX (maybe DX7). Why couldn't they just update the DX to DX9 and the OpenGL to version 2.0. in the model view? Im sure there is some interesting explenation.

It's because they wanted to create lots of new functionality & change it's abilities on a pretty big scale. To do something like that requires recoding from the ground up, which is what they did. The only reason the model side is still there at all is because they haven't transferred most of the tools into what is currently called the player yet, when they have, what we currently call the modeler will be removed. If I understand what they've done correctly, there's more to the "player" side of things than there seems to be at 1st glance. Although the LE works with & has affect on the model side of things, it's actually doing so via the bridge [I think - I'm sure someone from Caligari will correct me if I'm wrong :)], as the LE is part of the new player/tS7 code. Same goes for the library stack... thingy. :)

<edit>
I agree about OpenGL 2.0 though, would be nice if they could add that in at some point in the not too distant future.

I am having a real problem determining what their "Vision" is with version 7. What do they want Truespace to become? I just don't think they showed us the whole show yet. (I'm leaving Animation out of this reply)

Do they want strong programming or scripting capabilities for the techies or realtime rendering tools for the modelers? I think nearly everyone using Version 7 can see the possiblities but not seeing their Vision makes us nervious.

I don't understand why they didn't just leave modeler behind and put all their effort into player. Instead of using a bridge, just develop the tools, making them robust. Get VRay further in development. If the product is to be new.... make it new.

That's pretty much what they are doing, just not all at once. As I said earlier, when all the tools that currently exist in the modeler are recreated in the player, the modeler will almost certainly be removed. That's why, aside from new button icons [made by Splinters], & a few bug fixes [no, I don't know which 1s specifically], there haven't been any changes to the modeler itself.

I'm just waiting on the demo. I wonder if they're waiting until version 7.1 to release the demo? I hope not.
