Nice, I love the old photo look. But what's this doing in the WIP category?

Brians got that right - this looks great. Of course according to Murphy's Karma if you HAD put it in hte finished Images forum somebody would suugest an improvement - but not me! I think it looks fine.

It's somewhat topical too as our local milkman is going out of business - he can't compete with the service stations and corner dairys.

Nice, I love the old photo look. But what's this doing in the WIP category? Probably the main reason is...because its 'in progress'...and I worked it over a little more. Link to larger size. (http://www.spacekdet.com/2006/with_news2.jpg)

Here's picky for you...

Shouldn't the left edge of the paper be a fold instead of loose sheets?

The fold is below the bottom edge of the frame.
Below the fold, as it were.

I meant the fold along the spine of the paper (vertical). Also, there seems to be a tad too much white space; editors like to fill up the page.

Another Edition of "All the News That Fits, We Print"
D'oh! I was just posting this update when I realized what you meant about the vertical fold. I will see what I can do next 'edition'.
I'm still attempting to create the World's Slowest Rendering Glass Material. (TM)
I'm not crazy about it now so it's subject to change.
Layer one is dielectric, layer two is SL2 TG Glass, layer three is caliphong.
I tried fresnel but ran out of patience.
Larger Version HERE. (http://spacekdet.com/2006/with_news5_b.jpg)

Great texturing, SK. I like that the floormatte has different colors over each column of rubber. Are you going to enter this one?

I just read the actual headlines....classic:)

I don't know why I keep commenting on the newspaper, as I really admire other elements of the work.

But the layout of the paper can be a powerful subliminal clue dating the era of the picture. So if this picture is supposed to be a nostalgic memory of the fifties, copy the style of the newspapers of that time. Look at the number of columns, use of boxes, photos, positioning of headlines. You don't need a 'Pearl Harbor Attacked!' headline to suggest an era.

The paper doesn't suggest newsprint to me - too red (lighting?) and smooth.

And I'm looking forward to the anti-aliased version of the World's Slowest Rendering Glass Material. (TM) .

LOL! Love those headlines! Your doormat may be a bit too clean but otherwise I like the way this is developing. Good work.

Depending on the render engine you can get really slow renders. With VRay if you use the glossy shader:confused:, couldn't actually remember the name for a moment:o, you can get some nice looks and long renders.:p

I think I milked this one for all it was worth.
A practice shot of just the bottles made it into the Jan 04 gallery, but the full render (http://www.spacekdet.com/rendr04/clinkers41b.jpg) didn't win, place, or show.
Maybe the judge was feeling a little lactose intolerant.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's intolerance....;)
