Well, TS7 runs pretty much like a slug on my system.

AMD XP 2000

1 GIG RAM

ATI RADEON 9600

VIEWSONIC VP171b X 2

I've been very happy with the stabilty of this system. Before this I had some pretty bad computers stabilty wise and I've been reluctant to upgrade.

But now, I'm afraid I have to.

I'm looking at a dual core opteron system.

I'm curious to know what TS7 users are using and if they feel their computers are up to spec. I don't seem to remember seeing any info from Caligari on recommended specs.

3.2 GHz Pentium IV w hyperthreading

4 Gig of ram (but XP only uses 2 Gig efficiently)

Nvidia 6200 video card (128 Meg memory I believe)

Runs fine on my system. Slow going back and forth between player and model view when dealing with big scenes (but that is expected)

System is relatively new though (about 2 yrs old)

I have Xp3000+

2Gb DDr400 (Kingston-Dual Channel)

Radeon 9800 Pro.

TS7 runs like a dream although I have no shadow filtering in player with Radeon 9800 Pro. Apart from that very fast!

Why not see if you can pick up a cheap top of line Athlon XP (paid £20 for mine from a student upgrading his machine). More ram would help too.

Any more than that and you might as well upgrade. just knock a few details out of the player side using the hardware settings and everything should run fine.:)

Let us know either way

I have an XP3200+, 2GB RAM [2x1GB in dual channel mode], & a 128MB Radeon 9600 Pro... and it's too slow for my liking. I can live with it for now, but as soon as I've upgraded my monitors I plan on saving up for a system based on a Tyan Thunder K8WE, a pair of Opteron 254s [2.8Ghz, single core], & 2-4 GB of memory. Then when prices come down enough, upgrade to a pair of dual-core Opterons.

Must go faster! :D

I'm running a Pentium 4 (LGA775 type) I don't think it's HT...

1 GB RAM DDR400

Diamond Stealth S120 ATI Radeon 9550 @ 128MB (AGP 8x)

tS7 runs very well on this machine.

Don't get me wrong, it runs ok on mine, I'm just a bit impatient when it comes to doing renders. :D

2.4 GHz Pentium 4 processor

2 gigs ddr400 ram

Nvidia BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra

Windows XP Pro

Seems to run smooth on my system. Though, there is always room for improvement. :)

Opteron 165 (dual core) overclocked from 1.8ghz to 2.43 ghz, stable so far. Rendering monkey.

2gb of OCZ ram, 202mhz 2,5,2,11

BFG 6800GT OC, hope to upgrade to Radeon X1900XT in near future.

XPpro SP2

In any case TS7 runs real smooth including player :jumpy: .

Unfortunately, my mother board doesn't support CPUs faster than the AMD XP 2000. The Opteron option looks good to me and I use my computer for other stuff that is also pretty demanding.

And maybe when the the network rendering plug-in is ready for TS7 I may get that to speed up renders. I guess I'm an immediate gratification kind of person.

Assuming you are speaking of tSNet, it is available now. :)

Hmmm... I think 1 of these (http://www.armari.co.uk/system.asp?SysID=336) would do nicely. :D

Lovely systems. I'm afraid I'll need to settle for just one dual core system though. ;)

Hi Darrell

I recently upgraded to a dual core AMD 4800 ...it rips! renders twice as fast because each core is splitting the total render.

One bit of advice.. DO NOT get Windows XP 64 bit OS... Win 64 is not supported by many applications. It's not even well supported by MICROSOFT!!!!

Particularly painful in win 64: there are no real virus scan programs availible and almost no printer drivers!!

Stick with regular Win XP

Thanks for the heads up, Pete. I'll be sticking to Win XP Pro.
