I know i can turn off making 'smilies' for my own posts but is there way to turn them off while viewing other peoples?

I think i have had quite enough of spastic bananas.

At the very least they should be rationed, they are being devalued by indiscriminate use.

I 3rd the motion for lack of motion! The static smilies are fine but that jiving banana and bouncing blob are just distracting:(

Actually, while I'm bleating about these otherwise excellent new forums is it possible to dispense with the 'junior member' apellation?

Apart from the fact that it sounds suspiciously like a comment on the size of my manhood, at my age I have far too many wrinkles, gray hairs and general life experience to feel comfortable being refered to as a 'junior' anything.

Please??

fortunately you're only allowed 5 'smiles' per post (which includes bananas). :)

I love the 'junior member' apellation.

It makes us all equal :)

I suspect this will change as your number of posts goes up.
At a certain number perhaps we'll all become 'Senior Members'?
Make too many cutting, derogatory posts and maybe earn a 'Dis Member'?
Make a post about something but forget to cite where you first saw it: a 'Can't Re: Member'?
Only Norm knows for sure...

FYI: for Internet Explorer at least you can press ESC to stop the buggers.

Or if you were using a decent browser like Maxthon or Firefox you could use the ad blocking feature to block them.

I hope this is correct - sadly the more 'senior' I get, the more 'junior' my member gets, I don't need the constant reminder!!!:(

Fortunately I have enough maturity with my senior status that I'll not let it bug me too much :)

I'm using v1.5, can't remember if it was done in the same way in 1.0 [incase you're still using that], but it's handled by an extension. I used to use Adblock, but now I use Adblock Plus (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1865&application=firefox). When it's installed correctly & you've restarted Firefox you should see Adblock image on the right click context menu when you r/c on an image [or Adblock background image if it's a background image]. HTH.

Yay! It look's like I've travelled far enough down the distinguished road to become a full Member rather than a 'junior' member!! I think that calls for a couple of bouncy buggers

I guess it IS linked to the number of posts one makes...

Hey, he's gotta pump up that 'Number of Posts' somehow!
Quoting ones self is a good way to do it.
Me, I'm still working towards the goal of graduating to 'Member' status.

Yeah I know - as I get older I find myself talking to myself a lot! I just wanted to make my post make more sense as my original comment was earlier in the thread - or is it just that I have a bad memory? I can't remember....

(W!ZARD wanders off muttering under his breath....)

Hey Cool - the 'rich text' has been enabled!

It's OK to talk to yourself. Don't we all? Did I just say that out loud? Nevermind.

When you start disagreeing with yourself -- and in public -- it might be time to worry. :)

(Wait don't 'submit reply'.)

Yeah but if you start getting too narcissistic it might be time to have a good look at yourself!;)
