On Monday August 6, 1945, the nuclear weapon Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima by the crew of the American B-29 bomber Enola Gay, directly killing an estimated 80,000 people. By the end of the year, injury and radiation brought total casualties to 90,000-140,000. Approximately 69% of the city's buildings were completely destroyed, and 6.6% severely damaged.
Not 100% sure which way I'm going with this, I have 2 ideas, one I've started the second I'm not sure if I can do it... I'm very inspired by WWW's physics thread in the arts section, so whatever I do is going to use the physics system :)
I'll post the first screen shot tomorrow.. not that it'll make much sense!
PS..
I don't consider it a great turning point in history, infact its the worst thing anyone has ever done.. hopefully I will reflect that in the end art.. and no its not going to be sick.. just making a point |

but I´m now at making the wings ran a short test on the wingjoints
(which you can see in the thread from March 23. )
This project will be a still picture just after the drop......
Its going to take some timke as i am working in parallel with other projects because i get bored with one thing pretty quickly !

Considering all the war planes that I've seen created throughout tS, I was wondering if anyone was going to go there. By your description, I'm not sure if your planning more of a ground level viewpoint with the plane outbound or what ? You've definitely got my interest up, and I look forward to your art. |

For the Allied soldiers and sailors slated for the planned invasion (http://operationolympic.com/) of Japan, and the Japanese soldiers and civilians in their path, it was the most merciful thing that could have been done. |

Yes I know that :) , I ment the nuclear bombs in general, it wasn't that long ago everyone was living on the edge waiting for someone to start flinging them at each other.
Here's Little Boy |

Unfortunately it gets worse. USA did not accept the lesson.
a million deaths in Iraq most children and women. Why? For liberty or for oil and arms sales? Thank bush! What next? :(
You can do art whith 'little boy" but don't forget the reality. This should make you think that this is not fun. Did you want to have fun with the bombing of the World trade center? |

ahmmm not a political thread.
Anyways one can't help feel the shock of such a design and intended purpose. Very good job on modeling this so far and yes a huge turning point this object has made in history, maybe the biggest in our history. |

Well not really as I knew of someone that was killed, likeswise I had family that was killed in WW2, so no I don't think its funny nor am I glamourizing death and distruction..
I happened to be around in the 70's when we where constantly under threat from "the bomb", leafets through the door telling you how to kiss your a** goodbye etc, and what you could do in your last 4 minutes
Edit..
ahmmm not a political thread
Thanks Noko |

Marcel who says it is art and who says it makes fun ? Thats a pretty realistic render of that piece of s... Its not more and not less !
But it makes people think which isnt bad.Why dont the people say the same about all the other warcrafts that we see on all the other forums and here too.The YF 19- Saber with the rocket is the same thing !;)
Much as all the other war planes much as all the explosions we see here....
Plus the other all terrain vehicles... |

Rayman: I like 3d explosions because i know it is not real. It is a good choice for this topic. The important is not a good image but that inspires fear or other idea. THAT is art.
May be that we should write on the wall "never again". ;) |

Here's a quick* pass of the hanger scene, I still need more in the background, make the edge of the plane more defined, the trolley looks a bit 3D, maybe lighter?
I retextured the back wall just before i set it way rendering and the textures haven't shown up
*rendered/modeled on a HP Advent 2.3 with a 64 meg Intel video card, 850 ish RAM lol |

I like the black and white one too.
The color one probably shows your modeling and texturing skills better but the black and white makes it look like it is from the old days.
I wanted my Splododyne movies to look like they could be old films so I tried a filter that gave the black and white, grainy, streaked, jumpy look. Decided not to put time on that though. |

In case you were aiming for historical accuracy, the bombs were loaded not in a hanger, but from rather small concrete pits, as pictured here (http://www.travelpod.com/travel-photo/srvance/spn-hkg-2007/1177297200/atomic_bomb_pit_1-small.jpg/tpod.html), here, (http://www.stelzriede.com/ms/html/sub/mshwtinp.htm) and here (http://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircraft/b-29/44-86292/1945/enola-gay-a-bomb-pit.html). |

@ Finis
I've tried black and white for game animation, with scratches and what not and it is hard work, the "photo" was done quickly in Gimp, the colour version, I'm not happy with, I spend most of y'day fiddling and ended starting again after a 9hr render
@spacekdet
Most of the shots I used for reference where in a museum, To do it down aa pit I'd have to model most of the rear end of the plane too, this is my safety net entry really, I have something a lot more ambitious but I don't know if I can pull it off, at least this way I'll have something if I don't..
I'll post a pic of the re adjusted scene once its finished AA'ing |

Well. I'm fairly happy with the bomb, maybe rethink the wheel textures and trolley, but I should really move on the the rest of the project lol |

the renders look nice, howerver I will refrain from any of the "political" issues as I am on the exact oppsite end of the spectrum here, but nice images. |

TBH I seriously thinking of doing something else, I never really thought it through and I'm bound to upset someone no matter how I do this.. so I think I'll go to plan F which isn't a bomb! and something that influenced my life quite a lot
I loved working on the model, its probably the best thing I've done but not the best subject for this contest |

Rjeff half the prolem is I'm over thinking and I'm getting nowhere, plan A was the bomb crashing through a ceiling and using physics to get things flying.. but it would need to be a flippin high house! the bomb detinated at 1,900 ft.. Little Boy wasn't a dud as we well know
Plan B was a bit more graphic but I haven't got the skills to do it.. or the PC power to render it
Plan C I don't think I have a chance of winning with it
so being politically correct or peoples feelings hasn't much to do with it, if it was just the SMC I'd be happy with what I've done :D |

The best part about art is that it doesn't need to be perfect to be interesting or make a statement !;) |

Yeah I know, but I've decided to do something a bit more on theme, do I just continue with this thread or start a new one?
There's things I did with the bomb that is helping a lot with the new project so time hasn't been wasted :) |
