Hi guys,

I'm working on a shader for my Transformer here, that shows him after he was burned down by another one with a flamethrower.

But I'm not quite happy with my Result, maybe you can help me out, how to make objects be scratchy especially on corners etc.

I want it to look a little more realistic.

(Hi Res Version here)

I'm using HDRI lighting and reflection.

Thx for help ;-)

All the best,

HDRI course goes into shadow settings and effects. Higher samples may start to include lesser lights which normally are artifacts from original HDRI creation camera. Thus samples of over 200 are sometimes needed to smooth those over which can really slow down the rendering.

Another option is to use HDRI lighting but regular light shadowing with the regular lights having a negative and positive value cancelling out the lighting part while one light shadows can be used with the HDRI doing all the lighting. This can dramatically improve rendering time with better shadows plus more realistic shadows depending upon placement of regular lights. Anyways that too is in HDRI course on chapters using regular lights with HDRI. Might want to view those chapters, all in all about 15min of video to endure :).
