Back in medieval England, people were entertained by 'playing cards' for amusment and to settle bets. Before the introduction of the printing press, playing cards had to made by hand. The methods were unorthodox and inconsistent.

Here, I have the start of a WIP of a card making factory for the Jester Cards.

Real Jesters were used and flattened out on laminate tiling in a cruel, but rather efficient manner.

I have yet to add many things to the "Jester Flattening Factory' include balls for the Jester (that is balls that go on the shoes and hat :D)

It seems the addition of the Jester Card made the play even more intriguing. However, gather Kings, Queens and Knights for the "Jacks" to be flattened out in a similar manner was to say the least quite challenging.

A cool idea (I've not yeven seen what the MMC challenge is this month yet, but I like your entry...) - the press looks great, the only thing that seems a shame right now is that some of the detail is being lost on th eupper section against the texture of the walls - being very similar in colour, it's difficult to distinguish what's going on, but I'm sure that you can sort that with a bit of texture/colour tweaking.

Of all the things you have created this is my favorite!

Is this a manual press and if so where are the handles?

The lighting is a little too dark I would get an ambient light into the

scene.

I'm sure you'll bring out the best (or worst) with this one.:)

Still in the construction mode and have been sidetracked one way and then the other.

Decided that every good "jester-flattening" factory needs a tortoise 'hench'man' to bite onto the wooden stave that cranks the flattening plate down on said jester.

The tortoise needs some beak work and there are still placeholders and unfinished texturing.

What a slow demise but hey it's for the Queen right?;)

Is this a spoof on "flatten history" in tS?

Funny stuff.

Yes, little did the Jesters know what know what the Queen meant by being "pressed" into service.

Hmmm, back to square one on texturing....

I made some layers when I added a room structure.

When I changed the name of some items in a layer, it added textures (bumps) and other stuff from something I did yesterday about 8 scenes ago!

Even re-loading doesn't help nor does going back to default mode.

asdf...

BTW, I forgot where to turn off lights and widgets on WS side? Where is it in 7.6?

when i do a copy of a scene with "save as" to change the name, textures and bump can change from other objets. since i know that, when i "save as" i immediatly close the scene and reopen the new scene . the new scene is ok.

If i "save as" and save again without close the scene between both operations, the scene is bad. It is a bug. Hope you understand my "english" .

It's looking good. However your white table needs to be toned down to match the rest, and something looks wrong about the bos in the front.... do you have it's wireframe active?

Yeah, the table is not textured for Workspace as it was assembled on the model side with some sort of metal material (forgot which one).

The bos=box? Yeah they are warped. Not sure how that happened, but probably when tS crashed and eliminated every last one of the shaders from the scene and made three scene files disappear.

Of course, every bizarre work needs a guide. Here's an illustrated guide to the Jester Flattening Press room. :)

Thanks!

Ya, PhotoShop - Filter>Texture> grain>speckle I believe, if I remember that correctly.

I have my flash plug-in for tS somewhere, haven't installed it since tS6.6, should try and install it.

The Flash plug-in does still work under tS7.6 if I remember right from my tests (it was some time ago). Anyway you have a great effect here all the same :)
