Well, was going to do another SMC entry on Shavers. But got carried away and then reflected back on my father's spare parts drawer he had in the bathroom when I was growing up.

Nothing could be really identified as coming from the same models or even decade. There were toothpaste drops, old aspirin, unidentified stains, water leakage and parts from stuff that came from who knows what.

Of course, nothing ever should be thrown away from that drawer as it might be used for something else.

Anyway, the "Spare Parts Drawer."

Where's the Sucrets tin?

heh

He never used them, was too many for those. He would rather cough his rather loud barking cough over and over and complain about a sore throat. He did gargle with salt water though.

My grandfather, on the hand, was a faithful user of Sucrets. I still have several boxes he used from back in the 1930s, through 1950s. Of course, like any Sucrets user, the little metal boxes that formerly held cough drops, could be re-used to store coins, nuts, bolts or whatever.

Edit: Added a link with the history of Sucrets that has some photos. Some folks might not know what we are talking about. :D

What's funny about this is that all my life I have used "sucrets" as a reference for people when trying to pronounce my last name
