Hi all,

Okay, the LE seems like an important part of TrueSpace 7.5, but I have no clue how to use it, what it does, or even how to get to it... :o

Does anyone have a basic LE tutorial for EXTREME noobs to TS 7.5 (like me)?

Thanks in advance!! :D

Hi truespaced. Check out this link and download the scene.

To get to the link editor, in the default view settings:

look in the lower right corner of the interface for the icon. I tried finding it in the quickguide but couldn't, but it's near the Chat icon. Hover over the icons and they will show a tooltip (a short description of the tool). You may have to click and hold the mouse button to let the other icons popup.

When you get the scene open in the link editor, you can click and drag the links from one connector to others. For example, one cube has a link connected on the left, going into its tx input. Click and drag the link to ty, or tz, or rx, ry, or rz. Then press the Start button in the LE to see the results.

You can also connect the links to multiple inputs at the same time.

I took Dele's example in that link, and added a car. I was trying to make a low rider car. It still needs work, but download that too, it's in the same thread. It's simplified, since there is only one object in the scene (the car), as opposed to several cubes. It may be easier to see how things work with just one item to start with.

HTH!

EDIT:

the car is not in the link. Not suer why. I'll fix that tonight though.

Thanks frootee; I played around in the LE, and didn't get very far...

For some reason I can't download Rosetta Scenes or Objects from the forums; is there a way to do it that I'm probably not doing?

Thanks,

First off, can you see the links? For example,

spring.RsScn ?

If so, when you click on them, what happens?

What happens if you right click?

You should be able to click on the file and Windows will ask you what you want to do. If not, right click and select save to disk. I usually save to the desktop, then move it later to a folder. It may have been saved to a default directory.

Ya, I can see the links

I tried both; when I left click it, it opens up TrueSpace, but doesn't do anything.

When I save it, then try to open it in TrueSpace, it says "Bad File Data", or something like that...

okay. when you click on these, and the browser asks you if you want to save it, and you click save, there's a Save As Type drop down dialog. Make sure it is set to RsScn or RsObj, depending on the file you're downloading.

Let me know what you see on your screen when you do downloads (screenshots would be good posted here)

Here are some screenshots (thanks for the help btw froot!).

-TrueSpaced:banana:

Kinda hard to see what it says....

The first one is where I am saving the Rosetta Object, and under Save as Type, I am saving it as a Caligari Rosetta Object.

The second one is how I am loading it in TrueSpace; I am going to File -> Load -> Object.

The third one shows when I'm trying to open it. Under Files of Type, Known Object Formats is selected.

The fourth shows that the objects are in that folder when I click on All Files.

The fifth shows the error message. "Bad Data Format".

Shoot. I don't know.

Are you using Vista? Your web pages and download windows look different to me.

I'll try to email it to you ; see if that works better.

Forget emailing; I zipped it up. I hope this works better. Just download the zip file then unzip it. SURELY that'll work better! I hope... :-D

arighty. I was just thinking maybe Vista does something differently from what XP does with downloading files. I think I had the same problem with XP, but that was when I just dragged the file directly from the forum to my desktop.

Hope it works!
