This seems to happen from time to time, and it's starting to get on my nerves. I'm trying to move a swept face on an object, and it seems to be trying to force itself to move in a direction away from the way I'm trying to move it. If I do it in side view, it ends up moving a bit in front view, and vice versa. Anyone know what the problem is?

Hard to say without more info such as screen grabs, or better yet the scene before the move. Lots of possible causes - could be bad geometry in there affecting things, could be something to do with World or Object mode, could be related to using screen or widget or numeric entry, depends on modeler or workspace (or version of tS).

yes; which version of truespace are you using?

In all versions there are icons labeled X (the text is Green), Y (in Blue), and Z (in Red).

Sounds like you need to select two of these (activate them). This prevents motion from occuring in these axes. So for example, if you press the X and Y key, you now have motion restricted to the Z axis.

Before you try this, Enable Axis mode (not sure exactly off the top of my head where this icon is located), but it shows the axes. You select it, and the axes are visible in the view. This can be used as a guideline for your face axes, and can help you determine which axes to 'disable'.
