Unfortunately although I registered yesterday I think, or early this morning depending on your time zone, it won't let me post, apparently I'm in a moderation Queue, so this is the only place I can post any message, (if I log in I can't post)
How different is the V7.5 UI, I downloaded 6 point something whilst waiting for v7.5, but I have not had any time to play with it, and the UI is totally alien to what I'm used to - which is a CAD program, so it will take some getting used to.
Should I wait until I get 7.5 before printing off some of the manual, or is the UI very similar, and I won't simply be wasting paper, (or a tree) if I print off some of the V6 manual to get used to what Icon does what
As you can probably tell I'm a new user, my drawing background is Cad, but that's not really good for organic forms, and I've been amazed at the excellent work I've seen done with Truespace.
thanks ... Andy H. UK |

The UI for the main part of the program is very different (and much improved) over tS6.6.
Any time spent on tS6.6 will not be wasted though, as tS6.6 is contained inside tS7 for legacy reasons (it lets you use all your old plugins, for instance). This is named the Model view, and features an interface that is almost identical to tS6.6.
For the new stuff though, which is probably where you will spend most of your time as a new user who doesnt have old plugins to use etc, I would wait until getting 7.5 before diving in to learning the interface in depth.
HTH!

Definitely wait for 7.5 at this stage - theoretically its only a matter of hours away. As far as the interface goes I too have a familiarity with CAD programs Autocad and TurboCad mainly and this is nothing like that. The emphasis is on icons rather than drop down menus but v7.5 is a different beast again (substantially different from 7.1!:) with the various libraries and windows making it similar (at least visually) in some respects to environments such as Max or Maya.
As far as getting to grips with the trueSpace UI goes the best advice I can give is to quote the Beatles " Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream..." |

The 7.5 UI is completely different. 6.6 is included sort of like a huge plug-in, but the new tools and UI a much superior. So I'd wait for the 7.5 manual which will have embedded videos as well.
Best of luck and hope you get your forum problems resolved!

Thank you for you help,
I visited the download section of my account and was able to download the v7.5 manual, (and the program) so I can have a look good look at it, whilst waiting patiently for the serial number to arrive.
thanks again ...... Andy |
