I shouldn't talk as I've already thrown some candy through the bars into the enclosure...but I couldn't resist posting a sign...post. |

This gallery was better than some of the ones in the past, which have been terrible.
Simply compare it to other galleries such as Alias's (well, now Autodesk) gallery, etc. I understand the gallery is simply what Roman likes.... but for a 3d package, it should have a gallery dedicated to the best work done in tS to show what it is capable of. |

I thought I was fairly beaten this time around.
(with the exeption of the rock paper scissors one, nice concept just needed more work) |

I thought they were rather good. If you expect studio work with a multi-millionaire budget behind you along with numerous CG, FX,SX, artists, etc., then go rent a movie. :)
My mother is a fabulous artist can make photorealistic art with a brush. I don't even have 1/100th talent she does, but I do it for enjoyment.
And I think that's the point of it all eh? |

Alias/Autodesk galleries ...

Odd. Everything shown on the main web page is at least a year old, and I don't see any kind of monthly competition.

it's sad I tell ya! Sad, so very sad.
Sadness is an emotive response to a perception - what is it that you see about this gallery that generates a sad response in you? Art (any art) generates different responses in different viewers and those responses say more about the observer than they do about what is observed. As Einstein said, it's all relative.
It's my observation that your post is specifically ambiguous and is clearly incomplete in terms of linguistic effectiveness:
What exactly is 'it'?
In what way is 'it' sad?
What do you mean by 'sad'?
What motivates you to (a) tell us you think 'it' is 'sad' and (b) express this with such (apparently deliberate) lack of specificity?
Personally, I think 'it' is totally not sad! My images were selected as the winners this month and that certainly is not a cause of sadness for me. :D :D It is in fact a source of great pride and joy for me.
I also think that there is a good selection of technically competent and artistically adept artwork in this gallery, based on 6 years experience as a computer graphics artist and 30-something years experience in other art forms.
You are of course perfectly entitled to what-ever opinions you choose to hold - perhaps there is an image in the gallery that brings a tear to your eye and this is the source of your sadness - if so then is that not a good thing, indicative of effective art? If this is not the case then you need to be more specific, particularly if you are seeking to generate change or create less 'Sadness' in the future.
In closing I wish to thank you for sharing your observations with us. It is my observation however that you yourself clearly do not consider your own opinion to be worth very much if you are unable to dignify it by including your name or even an online handle or a rational explanation of your deliberately cryptic and less then constructive comments.
Feel free to create your own art that is less saddening to you than the current gallery - I look forward with great interest to see what you can produce.
All the best

Ignore him. This is just a repeat of the 1st post which makes little to no sense anyway. |

Chuckle! Good call Professor. I like to think that I'm a reasonable guy and give someone the benefit of the doubt. There's no harm done in giving someone a chance to front up and do the 'right' thing - if they subsequently choose not to then they're on their own and I can sleep peacefully up here on the moral high ground.
At the end of the day what other people choose to think is none of my business and certainly not my problem. |
