Hi. I am new to this and would like some help with a robot i am creating. I will have a render posted soon, All though he isn't complete, I would like a few ideas, and some advise like how to make a good metal material and how to split shapes in half (like split a circle). Please reply, I would enjoy the help and this robot will go out to everybody who wants to use it.:jumpy:

Welcome to the forums. Would love to help you out with your bot. One thing you can get that will help you with some metal textures is Simbiont TS. It is free here is the link. http://www.darksim.com/html/simbiontts.html

It looks like you have a good start on your robot. :)

The answers to your questions sort of depend on whether you're working on the model side or in the realtime workspace side.

Symbiont only works for the shaders on the model side. If you're looking for tutorials for that side of the interface you can click on the Training tab at the top of this page and then click on Older Courses. Also, many of the various sections in the manual have tutorials and/or video demonstration.

If your using the workspace interface, just click on the Training tab at the top of this page. It will take you to the appropriate tutorials. I suggest starting with the Organics Modeling tutorial by Jack Edwards. I know it doesn't look like a robot, but that that tutorial in particular will really get you started with the tools and what they do.
