2. rename file Vlight.exe inside folder D:\trueSpace76\tS\VirtuaLight\Bin become Vlight140.exe (or you can delete it).

its should be:
2. rename file Vlight.exe inside folder D:\trueSpace76\tS\VirtuaLight\Bin become Vlight143.exe (or you can delete it).

@Emma, thanks for the exe file. :)

VLight no longer renders in Truespace model side. Also the file VLight140.exe was supposed to be VLight143.exe? Even if I change it manually it didn't make a difference.

Hello Remnar, please answer below question so I can examine your problem solution. If question no 1 can not solve your problem, please answer question no 2-4.

1. Is Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 installed on your computer? (this patch required Microsoft Framework 2.0 installed on your computer)
2. Can you give your VLIGHT_ROOT environment variable value?
3. Can you give me all files list inside your trueSpace76/tS/VirtuaLight/bin folder include with the files sizes for easy analysis of your problem?
4. Do you know how to switch between Lightworks and VirtuaLight render engine on model view?

I have .Net Framework 1.1, 1.1 hot fix, 2.0 sp1, and 3.0 sp1 installed.

2. Can you give your VLIGHT_ROOT environment variable value?

VLIGHT_ROOT C:\Truespace\ts7\tS\VirtuaLight

3. Can you give me all files list inside your trueSpace76/tS/VirtuaLight/bin folder include with the files sizes for easy analysis of your problem?

TGAViewer.exe 64kb

VLight140.exe 1192kb

VLight.exe 16kb

glut32.dll 232kb

VLBuffer.dll 49kb

readme.html 9kb

render.bat 1kb

4. Do you know how to switch between Lightworks and VirtuaLight render engine on model view?

I don't want to be sarcastic but if I didn't know how, the renderer would have been on the basic Lightworks and I would have been able to render. To clarify I set my renderer in the ts6 preferences to VirtuaLight.tsr

I also want to restate the problem. If I left click the ts6 render icons, such as render object, or render scene, nothing happens. However, if I right click them, I get the virtual light options panel.

Hello Renmar, I dont see any problem with your patch installation and your setting. Strange, because it should run well. maybe you forget to delete file default.ctx ??? (on my experient, once tS76 popup rendered error message, I need to delete file default.ctx or click render button dont make any renspone).

from VLIGHT_ROOT value, I assume your tS7.6 was installed on folder C:\Truespace\ts7

Renmar, please try this:
1. close all running tS7.6.
2. delete file default.ctx in folder C:\Truespace\ts7\tS
3. run tS7.6.
4. switch to VirtuaLight
5. Still with empty scene, Open Material Editor. As soon as Material Editor is open, you must see a render result on small popup window.

Renmar, if above steps still can not solve your problem, please try again above step with delete files:
default.ctx
truespace.cfg <warning!! delete this file may cause you lost all tS7.6 default setting and you need to manual setting all tS7.6 parameters. So please backup this file first>
truespace.key <warning!! delete this file may cause you lost all tS7.6 default setting and you need to manual setting all tS7.6 parameters. So please backup this file first>
truespace.tsp <warning!! delete this file may cause you lost all tS7.6 default setting and you need to manual setting all tS7.6 parameters. So please backup this file first>

I already previously deleted the ctx file as was in the instruction html file.
I followed your new instructions deleting those files, and I still don't get any render. Even the material window doesn't render it's default material in the box. Maybe you should try to upload your patch file again? I am not sure what could be the problem other than maybe the files are corrupted.

Ts is even more broken now deleting those files. It just hangs at the main intro graphic, so I'm going to have to reinstall.

This is because I want Remnar to attch below new create of files (and keep it small):
VirtuaLight.log
truespace.cfg
Rosseta.log
PlayerD3D.log
for compare with mine, here for know why tS7.6 run different with his tS7.6.

Leif, is this patch run well on your tS7.6 or you have the same problem with Remnar?

@Remnar, if the patch file are corrupted, I think all members that download the patch also got the same problem with you. And if patch file is corrupt, all can not extract the file because it use password protection.

Sorry to hear about it Remnar, on my computer my tS76 still run well after I delete those files. Can you give your system configuration, Xp or Vista?, do you know all hidden running software on computer background (about why its running and where its come from and how to setting it properly)? But before answer this, lets make other test again.

Remnar, please download VIB and VS file on this link (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/attachment.php?attachmentid=14197&d=1218647176)and copy both file into your folder C:\Truespace\ts7\tS\VirtuaLight\Bin
Then run window command line software (cmd.exe). This'll open an old dos console. On console please try below steps.
types:

c: <enter>
cd\\Truespace\ts7\tS\VirtuaLight\Bin <enter>
vlight bCornell_66_GI <enter>
dir /od <enter>

After dir command please check if file bCornell_66_GI.tga was create on your folder C:\Truespace\ts7\tS\VirtuaLight\Bin or not. If yes, this is mean the patch work well and the error is on your tS setting. If you can not find file bCornell_66_GI.tga in folder C:\Truespace\ts7\tS\VirtuaLight\Bin please open file render.bat with notepad and add pause command on the button of the file. Save it and try again above steps. the post what message text you got on colose screen after add pause command on the button of file render.bat here together with files
VirtuaLight.log
truespace.cfg
Rosseta.log
PlayerD3D.log
on zip file.

Would you mind to download it for test if this patch can run on your ts76 or not? For help me to test if this patch only can't run with Remnar tS7.6 or also with others's tS7.6 ?

Hello. After reinstalling ts7, I have followed your instructions. I still can't get any rendering happening in Truespace using VirtuaLight. However I did get a rendered file using the command prompt. It was a closed in box, with a sphere and another box inside with caustic effects it seems. I have included the files you asked for. Edit: I forgot to mention, my OS is Windows XP sp3.

Remnar, here a temporary update (version 002). Please test if its run well on your tS76 on Windows XP or not.

Thanks,
Johny

Have you actually made a fix that 1) fixes all the VL problems 2) that renders with VL in tS 7.6 model view when pressing model side render icon and 3) renders with VL in the model side material editor ?

Hi Leif, here the answers:
1. No, I'm not remake the plugin but only try to make tS7.6 render scene file with VLight version 1.4.0 rather than with version 1.4.3.
2. Yes, it work well on 32 Bit Windows Vista but failed on Windows XP.
3. same as answers no 2.
Because of this XP problem, at the moment this patch require Windows Vista. :(

The xp version is working. However my only gripe is that it's not integrated. So when anything including a material box is rendered it gets out put into a tga file and shown in a custom dialog. I'm not sure if the fixes out weighs the annoyance, but at least its working now, thanks.

VirtuLight is already installed on Truespace. Why are people installing this patch. Is it to get some of the features back that are missing like mentioned in the Tech Forum under Virtuout.

So looks like people are downloading the patch if they downloaded the updated version of VL, rather than the one that came with tS?
