Here is a script to remove or customize the WorkspaceNav toolbar

No more extra toolbars in 4view use WorkspaceNav 2!
These changes will withstand reset to default.

Bring the navtoolbarchanger.RsObj into your scene.

First run the 'create backup' that will provide a copy of Toolbars.RsObj called 'copy Toolbars.RsObj ' in :\trueSpace76\tS\Scripts\preobjects.

Now you can safely use 'load from file' button.

Go to toolbar tab and choose a type of toolbar.

WorkspaceNav is the original.

WorkspaceNav 2 creates a version of WorkspaceNav not created on layout change so extra toolbars will not be there in 4view or extra views. It can be customized too.;)

Custom WorkspaceNav creates a starter custom version of toolbar.

Close the WorkspaceNav toolbar(s) by the 'x' on the toolbar in your layout, then press button for type you desire.

Go to extra tab to add WorkspaceNav 2 toolbars to another layout, then resave layout.

Using replace tab: (also used when reloading navtoolbarchanger.RsObj into your scene at a later date )
Go to replace tab to replace original Toolbars.RsObj from backup with 'create original from backup' button, then use 'load from file' button on default tab, now go to toolbar tab then use WorkspaceNav button to bring to original condition.

Custom WorkspaceNav toolbars can be made to suit your own needs by replacing the version in 'navtoolbarchanger/Toolbar Prototypes Encapsulator' , it must conform to what is there. So it must be called 'WorkspaceNav' with the prototype name 'WorkspaceNav'. The same applies the 'WorkspaceNav 2' toolbar customizing.

There is a toolbar customizer utility in post #6 to make customizing easy.

Hope you find it useful. Gord

Looks awesome. If it wasn't a .rar file I'd have downloaded it by now. Kudos. Still somewhat in shell shock here with all of the changes that have been made.

Woohoo! Once again stan fixes a problem with the program that shouldn't have been there in the first place! Thanky muchly.

Can you just clarify the last bit about creating custom toolbars. ie moving the icons into the order I want them and having them stay there.

Thanks loads.

Your welcome

Here is a toolbar customizer kit to make it easy to modify the WorkspaceNav (2) toolbar.

Bring Toolbar Customizer into your LE (scene level) with the navtoolbarchanger.

To create a starter toolbar press 'Create Starter Toolbar' button, now you should have a new toolbar with an 'X' icon in it on screen.

Populate toolbar with the icons you want, leave the 'X' icon there it will be removed for you. Then choose type, either WorkspaceNav and WorkspaceNav 2.

Finally press "Load in Nav Changer' button and your custom toolbar is ready.

Now use navtoolbarchanger as instructed in post #1 and your custom toolbar will become the WorkspaceNav (2) toolbar.

That's as easy as it gets.;)

Great work Stan.

I reckon this needs to be stickied in a "useful bits that you'd be crazy not to have" thread!

Now if you had finished it 2 weeks ago it would have saved me SO much time.

Agree with WWW removing toolbar from the 4view I would have thought should have been a standard option. So that alone gets a

Thanks for your hard work... appreciated

:banana::banana::banana::banana:.... 1 just wasn't enough

I've finally gotten around to firing up tS again and getting this installed. Woohoo!!! This is EXACTLY how the program should have behaved in the first place out of the bag.

Stan has done a brilliant job on fixing the mess that it shipped with. 4 view is useable in workspace again without having to juggle toolbars each time you start up.

Thank you LOADS.

Help, I've broken it!

I accidentally hit 'reset to default' rather than 'create new space' (why the heck do they look so similar?) and it's taken an age to reset trueSpace to how I want it because, surprise surprise, saving your layout doesn't save everything like it used to so you still have to re do much.

Anyway, got some of my wonderful Stan toys re-installed and working but I'm getting four toolbars again. I've tried running and rerunning the utility but still getting four all the time.

What has gone wrong and how can I fix it? Help me obi-stan-kenobi, you're my only hope.

if you reuse the utility you must replace original from backup and start fresh. the backup only gets made once so you can't overwrite it by mistake.

the toolbar does withstand reset, so sounds like you didn't save it in your layouts.:)

That's just the point, I had saved the layout and it didn't withstand the reset. I've tried restoring, renaming, etc, etc, etc - still four toolbars. I'm getting my customised toolbar - just four of them when I start tS. Help!
