Hello. It's been a while since I done any programming or plugin development. Since Ts is released for free, I grabbed it up including the tutorials. I am starting programming again, but I need help.

I have some questions about the RTShaders.
When I follow the RTShader course, every thing is fine except that I don't get real time feed back. I don't know if this is a bug with Truespace, or a problem with my system. I'm on a low end machine (as usual I'm poor lol) but it still is pretty good to me atm. I can run the modeler side ok as long as I have solid plane as wire and other tweaks. Some Dx9 shaders have real time feed back like the glass shader. However even with a color picker, I don't get real time feed back. So if I want to see chage, I have to repaint the object and even if I move the camera around, there is no real time feed back with the shader that was made from the tutorial. Is any one else having this problem or is it just me?

Right now I'm working on some custom controls to be used on plugins for the modeler side of Truespace. I am pretty much brain dead, when it comes to debugging some problems. I need some help with math and perhaps concepts in the design of my software.

Edit: Problem with accuracy on custom control solved. I gotta stop panicking and asking for help when these things happen, I usually get them solved before any one says anything :p

On that note, I plan on releasing Light Manager and Scatter for the modeler side, unless you think they are not needed now. I do think Light Manager would be helpful, and I plan on trying to make one for workspace if possible.

Edit: I can't upload my dxdiag because it's too big for attachments. My machine is Dell Dimension 2400. 2.4gz intel celeron, 1.5gb ddr sdram, Geforce FX 5500 pci 128mb vid card (175.19)

Yeah, I don't think your graphics card is up to par with the new architecture. You'll need to get a card that fully supports DX9.0c. Any card made in the last few years should work. One with 256mb ram would be a good idea too. You should be able to find a good card that will work well with tS starting at around $50 to $100.

NVIDIA has also not been any good with writing drivers the past couple of years so you might want to look into ATI cards. I don't know if ATI is any better, but I haven't really heard any complaints with tS and ATI cards. Then again, I think more people probably use NVIDIA cards. Something to think about though.

Remnar, you need to check the "Edit picked material directly" check box in Advanced aspect of the Material Editor.

Or you can drill down in the object using the LE and edit it's material directly that way.

Thanks, that did the trick for the real time coloring, however the shinyness effect doesn't work and I think it's because of my vid card. The only kind of video card I can get is a older type PCI (not PCIe). I got the best one for PCI unless you know of a ATI brand for PCI that would really improve my old PC.

Also I am wondering where could I get the ts6.6 sdk? I have the 6.0 one but I'm having a problem with missing enumerators that I can't even find in the original .h files, such as e_tsxPHYSICS and e_tsxPHYSENV that should be in the tsxTypes.h. Does any one know if those enumerators were old and taken out in 6.0? I also figure this is the wrong place to ask developer questions, but there's no where else more appropriate.

This card is a serious waste of money (you could get an insanely faster modern card for same money for PCI-E), but should work:

Here's another option for a little bit cheaper:

You'd probably be better off saving and putting the money into a better system... :(

Thanks for the info on those boards. Since they are priced a bit up there for older boards, I will probably save to get a better system.

Thank you very much. It turns out that when I backed up my stuff, I forgot to backup those SDK files, causing my code to utterly break. Now I gotta go back and put back code I had to delete just to get the compiler to shut up.
