Here is my latest..Light Master a control for all workspace lights in one panel..:)

to install just bring the installer into your LE at scene level and run it..

To make the ambient light compatible run the install on the 'ambient' tab ..use the 'ambient' tab uninstall button to bring the ambient light back to factory state. [doing this just makes the light readable by the script, otherwise ambient lights are not supported ..]
note: if you have my light setups library installed with the ambient light set for compatibility already no need to run that part of the installer


there is a method to pass light settings on to another light, simply click on 'update current light' button
to get light setting for a light back to the panel run it with 'update light master' button in the on position..

falloff has a widget like modelside, except it only works from the panel..

shadowmaps changable for realtime only

hopefully you will find it useful..:)
please report any bugs I might have missed..
note: modelside lights on show name and image the second time selected
note: you might have to click on 'update current light' to get controls to start working correctly..

I may still make the panel change aspects on the fly if a light doesn't have those settings but it shouldn't case any problem if you try to change a setting that the light doesnt have..;)

after helping Augusto on his custom light I decided to make this, so kudos to him and others who helped him..like trueblue

the download file has been changed..

I added an automatic method to get all lights tagged properly so they should work with all the features..

got the issues sorted out..even works better with model lights now ..

so the next release should come with new light widget[s] for spot and projector complete with falloff [like those on model side] once I get them calibrated right..:)

This is not working for me Gord. I am getting several errors. My Color, Falloff, Memory, etc... Shadows On/Off does not work for Spots and that is the only one I tested.

important: close truespace after uninstalling an old version of lightmaster or you get errors when installing the new version due to memory in the connectors..only install on a new instance of truespace..

David, this might be what happen if you had an earlier version installed..I closed windows and rebooted to see if the scripts were corrupted by memory held in connectors..it works fine :)

Bob, thanks for the info.:).never thought any of my stuff would get in an ad about scripting..there is no link to this page though..

I have a directional light (D) and an ambient light (A). This new lightmaster works fine with both (which is super!). It is great to have real time changes with a slider while watching the scene. Thanks. I am also using the light setup tool regularly.


I have one problem with the Light Master Control. I find I want to go back and forth between the two lights, adjusting each a bit at a time to get a balance of color and brightness. But when I have (D) adjusted and switch back to (A), the lightmaster still has (D)'s settings, so I have to start all over resetting (A). If I touch any of the controls, all of (D)'s settings are immediatly applied to (A). Can the lightmaster look at the currently-selected light and give a readout of its settings so further small adjustments can be made from that point? I think I do not understand the bottom right button: 'update lightmaster'/update light off.


Also, I find that the vertical brightness slider has no effect, but the "intens" does the job.

hi John, the bottom right button 'update lightmaster'/update light off' is to get info back from the light when you change lights..exactly what you are trying to do..it must be on {update lightmaster} before you change to a light to get info from that light.

remember to close lightmaster by the right click on the light master icon and 'update lightmaster' is shut off automaticly if you don't toggle the button ..I wish there was no x on that panel because closing by the x leaves another feature running too..better to shut them down if not in use..;)

as for the intensity slider I can bring up the value in next version..

there will also be better light type recognition for lights saved in old light setups or scenes prior to lightmaster in next version too..

It just won't do it.


It is set at "update light off"

I select the (D) light and set it to bright yellow

I turn on "update lightmaster"

Then I select the (A) light which was previously set at dim blue

Nothing happens - Light Master settings remain at bright yellow


But if I touch any Lightmaster control, those bright yellow colors are applied to the (A) light (which is the ambient light).


However (I have now discovered), if I change from (A) light to (D) light with "update lightmaster" on, it does work. So, it is only failing to update when switching to the ambient light.


There's more: Now I have added a spot light and if I select the spot with "update lightmaster", I get an error message. I get no error with "update light off".

I just have a little problem with it the lightype and the sybol

for the light does not show up in the panel...

John, did you make the ambient light compatible by using the tab on the installer? if not some things wont work with that light..
also lights in old setup libraries or old scenes at the moment are not fully integated yet to get all features

your other error is my code for the falloff widget..I should have commented it out sorry..

Rayman, your issue looks like you might not be using new lights..you get the image and pic when light is compatible with all features..on model side light the image and name only show on the second time selected..old scenes might only work with some features until I get the new version out...

yes Rayman..any new light generated using the ws light icons should have my id tags..model side ones will too after being in light master once..
I just forgot to create the method to give old lights id tags ..that will be in the next version..

if they don't work try a uninstall of light master, close truespace, reopen and install again

although I do installations and deinstalation and back again I get all sorts

of error messages too. sometimes it updates sometimes not....

I did use the ambient install, but ambient won't update. Am I right that I need to use BOTH installs? If I uninstall all and start over and just click the ambient install, nothing appears to happen. So then I also use the default install and then I get the tool button.


Also, the error message comes up with ANY spot light I try to update. It also pops back up - again - any time I click on "update current light". I started with a completely new scene and added 2 new spots of different colors - same problem. However, if I "OK" the error message, I find that the spot has updated the "intens" slider and the small rectangular color swatch. It does not update the RGB sliders or the color hex or the brightness slider, so - for color - there is no way to adjust from the previous position except to double click on the swatch (the old-fashioned way).


I will look forward to future versions, hoping for:


Ambient update

no error message on spots (I haven't checked out all lights yet)

color hex to update for all lights

brightness slider to work and update for all lights


I hasten to add that, even as is, this is a very useful new tool (because of realtime color sliders), which I am using often. So, thanks again.

there is a new version of light master to download..the falloff light widgets are now there ..they only work from the panel ..best I could do..

hopefully there should be no more error messages, because they were from the widget code..

I noticed you have to kick start the controls at first to get them running, or at least might have to, by clicking on 'update light' if they don't work at first..:confused:

John..there is no way to get the color picker or sliders to update from the light..we dont have access to that with script so I added a color in box below the color out[which wouldn't work to change color]..that way you have a way to see the original color from light after 'update light master' ..you can even adjust that color with the standard ws picker.

Rayman, all I can say is I hope this version works better for you..:)
