Here is a tS7.6 Infinite Light with color settings for Red, Green, Blue, and Intensity.
Intensity setting is set at default which is 0.000 any number above this will set the Intensity Color brighter toward White and any number below 0.000 will lower the Intensity Color toward Black. To set pure Red, Green, Blue, or combination of any, set Intensity to ZERO first.

I can't try this right now trueBlue but tonight I will. This looks like the way it SHOULD have been designed... (color picker is needed too)

As I remember there was a debate a year ago why there was no Intensity setting. I never bought the argument. I'm glad you guys are out there with these improvements.

I tried this one last night and have two observations. I would llike to see intensity adjustments match the color by going side to side.
I don't know any scientific formulas for intensity but it appears to be a strong light at "1" and washed out as you go up. -1 goes to black. I couldn't get a less intense light that looked nice visually. Something doesn't feel right. (Artist interpretation)
If you nail this please look at flood lights next.

I agree it is not User freindly. Not sure what you mean with side by side. In Model look at the Color control to see how it works. All though what I have done so far is not visally appealing it does seem to have the same functionaity. Basically you can add White (Lighter) or Black (Darker) to any color. Using this with a Light though is different in with which you can make White more intense (Washed out) and or less intense (Dimmer). Which you can not do presently with Workspace Lights.
Maybe Caligari Developers will have pitty on me and do it the right way. :)

I see it but I'm not sure how it works. The HDRColor node says that the max values for RGB are 1.0. You are adding to the value and it looks like the intensity goes to a max of 0.5 for values of 1.5 RGB. That's the way it looks to me since when I increase the intensity beyond 0.5 nothing seems to happen with a white color. I would get rid of the negative intensity values because it makes it sound like you can have negative lights in workspace.
I would do this:
have the red, green, and blue have values between 0 and 1. Have intensity between 0 and 1 and add another control for lum between -1.5 and 1.5 . Then multiply each red/green/blue by 1.5 to get the full color range of the HDRColor. Next multiply each of the red/green/blue values by the intensity. This way intensity has no effect on color at all. Finally add the lum value to each so that the color moves between white and black. So red would be:
final red = red * 1.5 * intensity + lum

I have updated this Infinite Light to make it more similar to Model's Infinite Light the best I could. Go to the first post to read about changes and to download this version.
Clinton: I tried to make your recommended changes but have not been successful to date. If you are willing please do submit your example.
Steinie: This is the best I can do so far. I have a Spot Light that I am working on and I am almost done. This version will use the Object Navigation Widget.

trueBlue, I'm using your new infinite light in a new scene I'm working on and so far I'm enjoying it's features. The scene takes place around a modern lamp so this is a great place to test it. I like how I can change intensity and color. Let me know when you get the Spot ready for testing. Thanks for another great addition.

I don't have an example and there could be a flaw in my math. I'll take a look and let you know if I can come up with something.

Well the math is valid, but the control wasn't really what I had in mind. I think it was more appropriate for a hsl or hsv color selections. Anyway, here are 2 more versions of the trueBlue infinite light:

"Infinite02" is a modified version that has a color picker instead of the red, green, and blue values.

"Infinite03" is the idea I had with the math applied in the Asp6 tab. It's probably only useful if you use a pure red, green or blue or a combination of only 2 of those colors. In that case the light color will not washout to a white when you increase the intensity.
