NEW VERSION OF AXISTOOL IN POST #11

here is an axis tool. I know some of you have wanted one for workspace..it locates the axis on max or min bounds of an object..it also works on groups as long as the group is in the location it was created in.:)

open the LE to your scene [Space3D] and run the install.thats it ;)
[if you want to uninstall it go to UNinstall tab]

enjoy Gord

Awesome! The PI Axis Tool is one of the things that has me popping over the Bride as it is sooooo useful. Never could understand why it hasn't been implemented as standard.

Anyway, this is fantasticaly helpful Stan. Thank you very much.

Bravo Stan !

You are right. Without that tool, any work in Workspace was almost impossible.

That plugin is the little step for the man... that will allow us to reach the stars.

Thanks stan, this is so great!
Maybe I can delete the Model tab now. :)
Well maybe not just yet.

I do note that your toolbar shows in Model.
As a work around I Ctrl + Shift drag a copy of
your toolbar to the Axis tools and then close
the original, which eliminates it showing in Model.

Thank you, Stan! This is a great tool.

Most of my efforts in workspace have been ending in profanity.

This should cut down the frustration considerably.:banana::banana:

Anyone got any ideas why when I use this my axis are moving in the right direction but way, way too much? For example, Zmin on a grounded primitive will, instead of going to 0 shoot off to something like -23.576. I've tried it with axis hidden, visible, new scene with simple primitive at world centre, same thing. Uninstalled/reinstalled plugin, same strange behaviour. What am I doing wrong?

WWW, it only works on primitives if not scaled..sorry but thats something for the devs...and only on groups that haven't been moved or scaled..I would like it to work like those on modelside but..I can't get the devs to listen to me and make boundingboxs like we had..

maybe another method can be devised with what they gave us to work with..will try to improve its functionality..Gord

ah, so use it before I do any work on the prim. Didn't realise that. I hope the developers read these threads and start (sensibly) implementing tools and functions we NEED rather than fancy fun stuff like hair that we've hardly seen used at all outside a few play tests.

Thanks for the quick response Stan, much appreciated.

here is the NEW AxisTool, Thanks to Wigand

it only works on single objects at the moment, groups not supported..it can even work if object it not axis normal..will work with the axis widget open to aid visually in axis placement..

added a blank value if no icon is selected ..
