here is a CameraFinder tool, complete with View to Cam :D

it gets all cameras in a scene into a list..you can select from the list or create a new View to Cam..

there is the same error message as in Scene Manager II when you lose focus on the list, usually when selecting twice without getting a camera from the list again..
.
you will also not be able to select from list and change cameras if you lose focus of the view window..just click on the window [titlebar] if it happens

bring into LE scene space , then run install..that's it :)

enjoy Gord :cool:

This is a much needed feature so I'm very excited to see it here, thank you loads but I'm doing something wrong. Everytime I use it I get the following error message:

Source object:

Error: Microsoft JScript runtime error

Description:Invalid procedure call or argument

Error Code: 0x800a0005 - (null)

Line: 8, Char: 1

Script text: clipfar = Node.Value('/D3DView/EyeCamera_{2C152F81-45A2-4035-8896-949D60C8A7A}'. 'ClippingFar')

I click on the OK button to get rid of the error diag box and it creates a camera in the middle of the scene at 0.004, 0.173, -0.000

Thanks in advance for any help

@ Stan: Dele created something simular here:
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=44743&postcount=1 (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=44743&postcount=1)
Look and see how he calls the EyeCam.

trueblue the script of Dele's is similar to mine..either way should be fine :) it works on my machine..

TheWickedWitchOfTheWeb ..I know the error but not sure why you are getting it..when the camera shows up and no cordinates are passed to it, it stays ar 0,0,0 ..not sure why it won't work for you at the moment :confused:

is everyone getting that error?

I am getting errors too.
The difference is you are using the WinID and that is what is causing at least one of the problems.
This is from Dele's script:

Cam = Node.SubObject("/D3DView", 0);
// Get Location and Rotation of current view
ViewTX = Node.Value("/D3DView/" + Cam, "tx");
ViewTY = Node.Value("/D3DView/" + Cam, "ty");
ViewTZ = Node.Value("/D3DView/" + Cam, "tz");

Note: In 4View the is 4 different Cameras and WinIDs.
I wonder if %WIN_ID% would work?

trueblue, I will try Dele's method..my method should work too, but because every new view creates an eyecamera, maybe my win id is different..both ways won't work on 4 view ..unless I create a view index you can change, that might ..
thanks, will get it so it at least works on the main view for everyone..

made some changes to the download,,it should work for everyone now..added a four view setup. for now you must press 'get list' after making a change to the view setting, to register the chosen view

had to fix a problem with orhto cameras, but now it should have all those glitches worked out...now people using four view will find it works..probably renaming them to back side etc will help insread of ViewtoCam, 1..maybe I can figure out a way to make naming views automatic..

Thanks Gord!

You're spinning out some very nice stuff really fast here, between you and Délé I can hardly keep up with all these new developments!

Great work! Thanks!

OK, I'm obviously doing something wrong! I've downloaded and installed your latest version but I haven't got a clue what I'm doing. I've managed to pop a camera into the slap bang middle but that's not right!

I work in 4 view, I adjust my perspective view to how I want it, now, what combination of things do I do with your plugin to make a camera at that viewpoint? I've had a fiddle and pressed things but managed to crash it!

Any help to make me feel less stupid would be appreciated! Thanks.

WWW, I will try iy in four view, there might be some thing I had not forseen..

only thing I can think off hand; you must delete older versions from the scene or it will unpack the first one..
I want it to work for you .,..

Stan, sorry to be a pain but can you give me a step by step on how to make it work because I haven't a clue. Logic dictates that you click the view to cam button and that's it but obvioulsy not as that just freezes the programme - please give me an idiots guide to using and I really want this function!

Thanks loads and sorry to be a nuisance

PS - how do I uninstall the previous version?

eh? I'm using standard 4view layout, just like your screengrab. It's instructions on using the plugin I need. I know how to install it (you taught me that already!) - then what do I do? There's three buttons and a dropdown list and I have no idea what to do with any of them.

the layout was because if the layout is the problem we could then rule that out..

the buttons
'get list' is the basic button for the lust generation..it is also needed to update which view button you are using before trying to view to cam..

'select' is for selecting from the list once its generated..it should ser the view to the selected one..

'view to cam' button is for gererating camera views ;;you must do 'get list' before at least once ..then once for every v choice..
click a view choice, say..'V2 on' , then 'get list' to register the choice..then you can make as many view to can's as you want in that v window..

OK, got it! WOO! Thanky thanky Stan. In the default 4 view layout I have to select the 'V 4 on' button to get it to work but work it does. This is one function that has been desperately needed for, well, ever, so I'm glad that it's still available via plugin with the new version.

Thanks again Stan. With this and fixing the rotate function you should be on the payroll!

your welcome WWW.. you should need all 4 v buttons depending on which view you want to view to cam ..choosing the proper v button is important..your main should be bottom left ..then counter clockwize so v4 is the top left..like the pic I posted with the standard view arrangement with 4view in relation to the v buttons..Gord :cool:

I'm using the default layout, which is just like the screen grab you show, only what you have listed as V3 is V4 for me.

I don't know why but it works! :-)
