here is an un-encapsulater and addto button for ts7.51 :D

bring the installer in ts7.51 in one of the normal methods.. then you just run the Gluetools installer . it will install the Gluetools toolbar

the only issue is with the addto button..it may make the added object jump out of position..haven't figured out how to stop it yet:confused:

the addto tool works by first choosing the group to addto, then a left click will register it with the tool. then choose the object to addto and a right click will add it to the group..

enjoy.. Gord

Hi stan.

What is a normal method for bringing this into truespace?

Also,

Does this work in a fashion similar to the Encapsulate in 3D tool? I can't figure out how to get that thing to work...

Thanks!

hi Frootie, you can drag and drop it into a library from anywhere in windows explorer..add it to an exixting library via explorer then open that library..there are other ways, but those are methods I use..another..you can also import it into a library. which is done from the droplist in a library while in the stacl.

the Encapsulate in 3D tool works by selecting all the objects you wish to glue or encapsulate in to one group by creating a box around them in the LE by left click and drag to make the box, thern click the encapsulate 3d icon, then it must be named in the blank space on the title bar that appears and press enter [or it doesn't complete the job]
doing it on screen is easy. select the first object then hold down ctrl while adding to the selection, then click the encapsulate 3d icon and its done..it will be named Object or Object, 1 ,2 depending on how many group objects you have in your scene.

unencapsulate tool works by going into the hierarchy with the dowm arrow key select the object you want to unglue and click the unencapsulate icon..and its done

the addto tool is explained in my last post..

hth Gord

Stan,

Before this tool there was no way to unencapsulate objects? If the answer is yes why wasn't it necessary? Not educated in this area...

Thanks for making this Stan (Gord),

This is something I'll definitely have a frequent need for. It always strick me as strange that this feature didn't come pre-packaged in TS7.5 or 7.51, but I'm sure glad you had the smarts and willingness to make this happen for all of us! :)

Thank you,

- 3dvisuals dude

glad you guys like it..actually trueblue made a script to unencapsulate last month, I made a icon button driven version ,..and an addto function,,:)

the reason is unknown to me also why it was not already part of ts7.5...they would do a better job of making it than me..none in workspace. but you can go to model side and use the unglue tool there and get the same results[it's an 3d un-encapsulater ]:D

your welcome Steinie, 3dvisuals dude

You need better icons:
Encapsulate:7550
UnEncapsulate:7551

I've just stopped grouping things altogether. Maybe it would be more productive to install these toolbar buttons though.

I like the suggested icons, too! :D
