In trueSpace, the axis are represented in your scene by 2 lines on the ground : a green and a blue one. These colors indicate the X and Y axis.

Of course, these lines are visible only in Wire grid mode. This is probably why most of us are working in WireFrame display mode, as that indication is vital for any accurate and efficient work.

I have always wondered why the real-time "widget" scene axis indicator we have in almost every 3D program has never been implemented in trueSpace...

However, here is the suggestion :

Since Player/Workspace don't show any color line for axis, and Modeler's lines are invisible in solid and hide grid modes,
could someone try to create these tools ?

I think I would pay for a Modeler plugin that would work in the same way C4D or XSI axis indicators do :)
Am I the only one ?

What do you think ?

Thanks for the links Stan :) It looks like you have already looked into the question !

Your grid object is definately the solution for Player/Workspace.

Now regarding tS6/Modeler, basically what I had in mind was a small indicator just like C4D or XSI one :

1. Its options panel should let the user enter its location on the screen using the sceen coordinate system,

2. It would always stay at the same size and rendered in Solid Mode,

3. The X, Y and Z letters should always face the camera like in attached scene.

Note that this scene is in tS6.0 format. Since the X, Y and Z objects are glued with the indicator object, the Look_At camera will not get loaded in tS7.

I reported this bug to developpers. I think it should get fixed for tS7.5.

4. It should work with any active view, whatever it is the default perspective view, an orthogonal view, or a camera view.

What do you think ?

I might be able to make an indicator widget for the workspace, but not model side, it's not as easy

I guess the most difficult part is to assign a screen coordinate, isn't it ?
