Just a question, I know you guys like being off on your own with no contact with us general... uhhh people :) but your dialog is basically just general stuff and it can already be read by the general public... so... if you had it more readily available to us regular people, we all benefit :D

Just a thought.

Steinie is the head cheese over there, (hope I'm not blowing your cover) but I thought the point of the blog/ social groups things was to keep the forum focused on 3d and use the group/blog for off topic discussion.
I too noticed the conversation is public but membership was private, figured it was just wacky forum software.

Head Cheese? This would explain the odd smell in the blogs.

Oooh a sekrit group? Can I be invited? :)

Must admit I'm at a loss as to what this thread is referring to, and I am clearing missing something. If someone could enlighten a confused old fellow, that would be great ;)

Thanks!

Tom

We've been discovered! Hide the conspiracy plans! Call the assassins! Silence the spy!

You have a point there Rich. We don't want the new social features of the forums to misplace content that should be in the regular forum. Social group members should post any technical advice, etc., that is generally helpful in, or also in, the regular threads.

Social Groups are a new feature of the forums.

The group is here:
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/group.php?groupid=1

(Now they know our secret code phrase "head cheese" which means, "the poor designated scapegoat who takes all the blame.")

There is nothing "Private" going on in the group because everyone can read it. It is more like a casual conversation where the topic can change in a moment. The area is less structured and has no conflicts with trolls and trouble makers. Anyone here can start their own if they want. No one here is forced to read it so it doesn't interfere with what is really important in the Threads, trueSpace.

Actually it is rather nice to be able to talk without neighbors yelling over the fence.

p.s. OH, there is an escape tunnel in case of discovery...

p.p.s It is a "group twitter"...:D

I don't get it either-why not just post in the regular forum groups? It seems rather pointless. Am I missing something of the purpose of that group?

I think that is the point. There is no purpose for the group. :D

Sort of like Sinefeld-a show about nothing?

Either way it's nothing to loose sleep about.

I do however wonder about Genuine Naugahyde!

I agree with you, but I'm just trying to understand why someone would reinvent the wheel-I mean we already have several forums, and this just seems to duplicate the Roundtable and other forums here. It would be different if someone started another TS forum on another independent server, but they didn't.

Whatever, no sleep lost over this, I just wondered why.

Seems to me to be a bit uppity. Like where I live there is a gated community, that has yet another gated community inside that. I mean how much more do you need.

I'm pretty sure the audience of people interested in a riveting conversation about snow shovels is fairly small.
It may, in fact, contain only one.

You aren't missing much, and meanwhile, it's not cluttering up the forum.
It's a win-win.

If anything earth-shaking happens in there you'll all be the first to know.

Well, actually, we would not be the "first" to know, you guys would be the first to "know"... than if you deem it worthy of our consumption, we would know :D

No biggie, it's your group, I was hoping to not see this become a trend, we have enough things splintering the grounp around here right now as it is...

I don't think a discussion of pooper scoopers would be the highlight of Caligari Forum topics...

There was one question in there that was related to 3d that wasnt discussed elsewere

and that was about being able to render a tree successfully

and I automaticaly opened a thread in the public roundtable

area because I knew that would be of interest for many people

out there othereswise we just had a very nice conversation.

all the otheres did the same and discussed everything in public too !

Steinie even posted about his fear that Kerky would become

pay only in the Ambassador thread..... so there is no secrets out there

that should make someone worry !

My apologies, I will head off to another private area where I am secretly planning things :D

Jeez, I have underware older than you!!! :) Come into the 20 century young friend :D... hehehe I just turned 50 last month, it feels pretty much like 40 did, except more aching body parts, same amount of hair too :D You learn to really focus on the important things as you get older.

Looks like the self-appointed elitists DO want an underground cave where they only have to talk with the other rabid fanbois.

So much the better for the rest of us!

You want to sport an elitist attitude, go do it in your little club house.

I just bet you voted Republican. Fits right in with your elitist atitude.

BTW-no sleep lost at all. I don't loose sleep over the clowns at a circus either!

Teamonkey I was with you till you started Republican bashing. There is no need in that. If you really look at the group with the high and mighty attitude look at SocialBAMA..he thinks he is God incarnate. No to mention a socialist. The left is the eliete not the right. No where near it, and I am glad I am not.

to Steinie... I am sorry you consider me a troll. That was not my intent. I was hoping to get you guys to come on out and play. You had some interesting dialogue on in your little group.

Unfortunately I have no control over what others say and do...

I'll back away from the TS forums for some time again...

Sorry you took it so personally.

People have other opinions than yours-so live with it.

BTW-I am totally a-political, so don't even try and stereotype everyone that doesn't share your pathetically narrow world view as a raving socialist.

You're way out of your depth here. So don't even try.
