Cheers Johny, I will try that later. Now, is there a fix for letting you delete trueSpace files without the system hanging? ;)

Johny - Thanks for that - will let you know how fast it is with 4 cores.

Splinters - disable UAC, even temporarily and make sure you have ownership of the drive.

Added note: works with XP as well.

Additional Added note: just read this and realised how smug it reads with the 4 cores bit. it's a bit like that south park episode and the hybrid cars - a cloud of smug is now hovering over Galway :)

The only time I have had crashing problems when deleting TS files is if I have the thumbnails for ts thing installed.

It used to happen in XP as well. Try removing TS thimbnails. I think Caligari needs to update that particular add-on.

In some ways it's a little redundant now since you have libraries to store your files in and it thumbnails the images.

I must admit I do like the whole saving process though - I feel safer.

Oh, it never crashes...just hangs on the delete dialog; recyling whatever. I can delete any other kind of file except tS scenes. Sometimes on a fresh boot I can get them but once tS has been opened...no way.

It can easily be done in Safe Mode so maybe there is the clue. I could remove Thumbnails but have you seen the size and scope of my projects? They exist on over 50 CD's and DVD's so I really need to be able to view files in explorer; the library viewer can not always be used here.

Caligari, any chance of an update??

Yeah, it's a vista thing. I had a file on my desktop on my very first vista built - a 6.6 scn file. It was only removed when I reinstalled windows.

I'm assuming you have SP1 installed as it fixes a lot of rubbish like that.

I have SP1 but still can't get rid of the tS stuff although the deletion of other file types is better now...:o
