After numerous delays I am happy to announce that I am finally finishing up the body modeling lessons. I'm in the middle of moving at the moment, but it should be up this weekend.

Not bad.... You might want Steinie to look at it, though; he's the real critic here..

Thanks Jack, I'm thinking of dropping the price a tad for the head modeling upon the release...it sure has taken long enough! She is still not done(knees really need some work) I need to do some final tweaks and re-do the hands and feet video's, they were done...no problem, I just was not happy with them so I need to do them over.

BTW: These video's are LONG 30-60 min each. I hope that is not overkill(it is). and so far there are 9 video's(ouch) at 1024x768.

I think long is good because it helps with learning workflow and broadband is much more common these days. Plus it adds value. 9 hours of training is much more immersive than a 1 hour course that just whips through the subject and assumes or skips steps.

You just have to make sure that your vid price is going to cover the time you put in and your upload costs. ;)

True, granted this is about 6 hours of me tweaking and commenting. Still if someone else offered these video's at cheap pricing(even for other software) I would buy, I may not learn anything, but they are fun to watch...I like to watch mine at super high speed...it's like time lapse photography.:D

Some of the other training companies do that. They capture the modeling, speed it up, then do the voice overs.

I'm a pretty slow modeler, so I might do it that way if I got around to doing some training vids. But I use a mouse driven approach, with hotkeys it might be harder to remember what you did, lol. ;)

Do you think I should post my hotkey list with photo reference of the icons?...This may be a good idea, what do you think?

that'd be a good idea, have it as an attatchment to the tutorials when you download them.

I'll put it as an attachment with the interface setup.avi, and include it with future video's, and probably a stand alone download for those who do not wish to re-download the introductory vid.

There was a broken link for the full video on modeling the body, I think it went un-noticed...either way it is fixed now.

How do you feel about the pricing, business model, and general quality? I need some feed back so I could improve on my next topic.

What do you want to see next?

Downloading now. Thanks for the update :)

Well if you're done with the body, it's time to move on to UV mapping. ;) I'm sure it would be helpful to the community to see it done in TS, but I'm sure Blender, Roadkill, or any of the low cost UV mapper apps like UU3D or UV Mapper Pro would be instructive and helpful to the community as well. Wouldn't mind seeing Blender myself since that has nice LCSM tools.

Though a video showing the workflow for dividing the model up into projections and stitching and arranging the projections would probably be more universally useful across apps. Might be interesting to see it done both ways so that people can compare approaches.

In anycase I'd knock out the UV space before starting the rigging process. Less likely to run into problems later then.

Edit: oh yeah, and about your pricing. It seem really fair. It's not going to pay any bills though unless you can get a bit more following and exposure.

Jack,

I'm definitely buying these! As your set becomes more complete, you might change your revenue model to various packages, with correspondingly higher prices. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be covered!

I'm having a problem with your Interface Setup Simplified free sample -- the audio doesn't seem to go with the video... Maybe you used the audio from the Female Body Setup? The video looks great and the audio sounds great though, so I'm hoping to get what goes with both eventually!

Thanks for your hard work.

@Jack, sound like a good direction(UV, Textures), But I need to do one more "free" video first...touching up, add eyes gumms, teeth etc...

@optimiztic, Thanks for the heads up I will check it out, and thanks for the compliment.

Can anyone confirm the issue with the interface video(free version)? I am unable to locate it. If someone can confirm this, I will record a new version tonight.

Sorry for calling you Jack! I looked at the wrong post. I'll send you an email at your support address telling you what I hear and see on the free video.

The chess piece video downloaded and worked fine. I've since picked up your body vids, and I'll start them this evening.

nowherebrain,

For those on the forum, your free intro video works fine. It was probably the codec on my laptop that rearranged the audio and video timing. Strange.

Sorry for the false alarm.

Site has been updated with 3 new video's("SMC" #17 included), also if you visit the store I've put a $10.50 special for the modeling sessions(head and body, savings of @ $2.50). If you've found the monkey, you are in the right spot.

This is an update, not an attempt to advertise. I say this because I will be off truSpace tutorials for a few weeks(aside form the SMC and other freebies) To go into some blender tutorials, then We will link both pieces of software for the UV mapping lesson.

Well, I'll be finishing up my Blender piece this week, and then back into tS....it will be good to be back. We'll start doing some texturing and UV 'ing using both tS and Blender, it will be one course this way you could see different methods so you do not need to limit yourself.

The site has been updated(Blender), so if you are wanting to start integrating Blender into your work flow it may be a good idea and head over...free stuff too, as usual..I don't like to ask for money without giving a little something more to you sooo.....

I will be jumping head long into our UV and Texturing..well after 2-3 days of studying up on the "GIMP". I will be using that paint program, since it is free, and you should all have access to it.

Here is a quick peek at what I have been able to accomplish in just over an hour with our model from the tutorials. It is a bit crude(very), but this is where my tutorials should be able to take you to in the next lesson.

Actually, most should do much better....anyway. I'm NOT going to use the tS UV editor, compared to blender's it is....well ridiculous to even think about using it....trust me, we all win by using blender uv's. When tS has better uv handling, we'll tackle that. This does not limit anyone from using tS, they work well together (tS, and Blender..) untill next time.
