I have been thinking of upgrading my vista 32bit home to vista 64 bit. Possibly just building a new pc all together. Currently I am running 4 gigs of ram and as far as I know that’s all I can utilize with vista 32 bit.

I would like to install the 64 bit version on this pc on a different drive and keep this 32 bit OEM version on its drive as well. Or would It be better to wipe this drive or replace it and run just the 64 bit system. I believe you can run 32 bit software on the 64 bit system it will just run out of a different dir on the HD from the 64 bit software. What is best for my TS app ?

Any advice on what I should do or how to go about it?

I've been running Vista x64 since it came out and haven't had that much in the way of problems. TS has a few Vista x64 related UI glitches still but they are minor and overall TrueSpace performs well on the 64bit OS.

I have Windows XP installed on C: drive and Vista x64 on D: drive as dual boot system, but I find that I don't ever boot up XP anymore. :o If you do decide to go the dual boot route, this software can help you get it configured:

As far as the memory issue goes, the 32bit OS can only access 3.5 gig of ram so you're already under utilizing your ram and the change to 64bit would net you an extra .5 GB of ram to use. Also it would allow your 32bit programs to run in separate 2GB memory spaces, so even though 32bit apps still can only access 2GB of ram they don't all have to share the same 2GB like they did on the 32bit system.

Hope that helps!

I have Vista 32bit and Vista 64bit running on 1 machine. Each has it's own drive.
TS will run fine on either os. Whether or not you should go all 64 bit should really depend on the other programs you are using on your system right now. Some just do not like Vista and never will :) For the most part though Vista 64 bit will run most everything you use. Be aware that some critical things like QuickTime do not work on V64. Switching from 32bit and 64 bit is a little klunky sometimes but is the better solution for me.

My office just upgraded my old 32 bit system to a 64 bit Vista. Everything runs fine including TS 7.5. Only issue I had is trying to install an older animation program. No biggie on that issue since I can run it on my laptop. I have no qualms using Vista once I got use to it. Love the rendering speed.
