Workspace side has issues with tablets at the moment. Main problem I have is that the view or selection shoots off to infinity when I reach the edge of the screen.

But they are still very important to use for doing texture and concept work. Hopefully the tablet issue will be resolved.

tS is the only app I return to the mouse for. Everything else I do on my tablet (well, except gaming, where all but EVE requires the mouse).

Unfortunately it just doesnt work very well - navigating is a pest with having to click and drag and click and drag, and hitting the edge of the tablet causes crazy infinite values that rocket the view to infinity or send it spinning like crazy.

The issue isn't which tablet, though, it's that tS workspace side doesn't handle tablet input well from any tablet.

HTH!

Guys, I bought a Bamboo Wacom 6x4 inches. It has two modes, the tablet mode and the mouse mode. In tablet mode it has all issues that every body complains befor. But in the mouse mode it works PERFECT in TS, even in WS side!

Your talking about the Bamboo Wacom and not the "Fun" version right?

Can you use your mouse and Bamboo plugged in at the same time? They don't interfere with one another?

I think I want one. Thanks for the info in advance.

thats right steinie! The mine is not the fun version, it is too much expensive just because of the little mouse and some programs that I dont use!

And I bought a new mouse with seven buttons, and I use both (the tablet and the new mouse) plugged at the same time, no problem at all! You move the mouse the cursor follows the mouse, you use the pen and the cursor goes where the pen is on the tablet.

just a new dettail, I used to draw some times, for drawing I use the tablet mode, for any other purpose I use the the mouse mode.

I have my mouse and tablet plugged in together all the time, the older small Wacom thing (I forget its name). I cant use the mouse ON the tablet, but I can have them both plugged in with no problems at all.

Never tried swapping it to mouse mode, may have a look into that.

Thanks!

Tom

Wort,

I seek a tablet that works with Vista 64 bit myself. Will probably have to resort to a Bamboo...but I'm hoping there is something else out there...

I have a Bamboo and an Intuos...neither work well with tS. The main differences between the two is their size, resolution and support for tilt of the pen. tS lacks the support at the moment, not the tablets.

I also have a 3D Space Navigator...same problem, no support at the moment other than in model side.

Splinters, in the pen tablet properties I changed the mode from pen mode to mouse mode and it is working so well in WS... It's so good to point edit mode.:jumpy: I dont know what is happening with your tablets.

You're right, that works! I had never tried mouse mode, finding it a bit weird, but it does indeed work. Now the size of the tablet is not linked to the screen size (so touching one place on the tablet is NOT the same as touching the equivalent location on the screen). This means hitting the edge of the tablet means you lift the pen and place it back on the tablet, just like with a mouse - and it means hitting the tablet edge does not cause craziness with the editing and navigation tools.

Amazing that this has been here for years and never uncovered. It's a bit weird, a bit "not pen like" of course, but good for things like soft paint.

Thanks!

So are there any tablets besides Wacom that someone could recommend? Or am I plain stuck? :(

From my understanding of tablets, Wacom is the way to go, they are the leader in the field in terms or reliability and usability. Would be interested in what others have to say, but for me I wouldn't buy anything but a Wacom (and indeed went without a tablet for years as I didn't want to go for one of the cheaper brands).

Thanks!

I had a Trust tablet; absolute garbage. Avoid anything which requires a battery in the pen. The only brand other than Wacom I can recommend is Serif (you can often find them on ebay). Ironically, it is a rebranded Wacom anyway so I stick with my own (and Tom's) recommendation to go for Wacom. Seeing the tilt effect when using an airbrush setting with an Intuos is priceless. Had mine for years (and now a new bamboo for my laptop). If I had bought and replaced each cheap one I saw, I would have the money for one now anyway. You don't need A4 or A3 either but A5 is as small as I would go (Bamboo is A6 but nice and portable)...:D

Plenty of Fords and Kia's out there but Wacom really is the Mercedes Benz of tablets.
