I've had my new PC for around 16 months now and have recently upgraded a few components - replaced my aging VGA CRT monitors with a couple of widescreen DVI flatscreens and doubled my RAM. Everything was going fine until I decided to try to change my desktop settings. No matter what I tried I could not get the pc to work in dual monitor mode - it simply failed to see the second monitor.

Re-installed existing drivers for my ATI X1650 pro 256mb GPU - which has always performed beautifully. Then tried installing the latest drivers and still no go. After many frustating hours finally went for a complete clean windows re-install and put in a new GPU and now everything is up and running again, although I've still got lots of additional programs to reinstall.

So I've now got an AMD Athlon X2 4800+ dual core cpu, 2 gigs or RAM, a 300gb internal HD and a 500Gb external HD, two Viewsonic 19 inch widescreens and a brand new GeForce 8600 GT graphics processor with 512 mb memory.

Is anyone else running this card and if so are there any issues re using it with tS 7.51 that I need to know about?

Thanks in advance

(...wanders off to re-install more programs....)

I'm running the 8600GT version with 256MB (very silent, since it has a passive cooler)

It runs fine with 7.51 and also with the Beta versions, so you made a future investigation already :D

The problem with those graphic drivers is that even if you deinstall there still are parts left inside the operating system. You should either use clean up programs or make additional manually removes of whatever is left after deinstall. Includes checking the registry.

Same issue happens with some printer drivers.

Thanks Emma.

The clean install has certainly done the trick - I've just spent the evening reinstalling all my favorite software's and everything is looking very good.

I just tried out a big scene in tS 7.51 Workspace to see if the new graphics card made any difference - I thought my old card was pretty good but this new one is incredible! Big scenes that used to stutter are now zooming around with AA, Bloom and supersampling all switched on - I am totally and utterly impressed! tS just sings along!
