I've just ordered a laptop for work purposes and I am planning on running tS7.11 on it. Although graphics is not my main concern I am curious as to how tS will perform on its Radeon Xpress 1150, does anyone have tS running on this graphics card, whether it be an a laptop or desktop (it shouldn't make much difference). I have read that it is fully directx9 compatible.

Thanks
Chris

Do you happen to know what graphics card it is as there are many different cards for laptops. I know trueSpace modeler side will be fine, I am interested in player side though.

Hemulin you should get a laptop with a decent vid card if you want to run tS on it.

Decent = Ati x600/x700 (1600/1900) or better or nVidia 6600 or better

Asus makes a few systems with good graphics on them. And if you go the build your own route, you can do it for under $1500.

Thanks Jack, but i've already bought the laptop I was looking at (with the Ati xpress 1150), and it performs pretty darn well running tS, just need a bit more ram now ;).

The main purpose was not to run player, I was just curious, anyway my budget didn't stretch as far as $1500, more like half that :D; me being a student and with no money, living in a cardboard box (with broadband).

Hey that's great to hear that tS can run ok on the 1150 because that would open up a lot of cheaper laptop options for people. :-)
