Hey guys, thought id revisit this scene and ask yet again for some critz / comments.
Title is Rising Sun and my intention was to create the scene to look as though the interior of the room through the rice paper panels is lit by a sunrise.
Everything is yet again all done in TS7.6 and rendered with Vray.

It's quite beautiful.
Have you considered some shadows of vegetation- weeping cherry, bamboo, pine, etc, on the screens?
It would add the always desirable influence of nature, add some contrast to the somewhat empty area of the grid, and hint at an unseen, surrounding environment. |

thanks spacecadet, if you look closely at the back screen wall there are trees showing through the screen, most notable below the painting, i had a real problem with trying to get a balance between lighting in the room and exterior to the room, too much outside and no interior features show, too much inside and it saturates the room showing nothing through the screens, maybe some lights with falloff just around the outside trees? dont know but thanks will experiment some more. |

I agree with spacekdet, and a little more plant life in the room might help. Also exaggerate the shadows cast on the panels themselves by the trees outside.
Lovely piece of work though...:D |

Wow, this was already a good looking scene but it has been transformed into a really great one, excellent job! I concur with the others - abit more tree shadowing on the screen could llok good but have to be careful not to overdo it I guess.
Well done - shold be a strong contender if you submit it to the Gallery.... |

Ditto on all the above comments. Unfortunately I don't know anything about V-Ray so can't offer any advice - but just wanted to say great image and a definite contender for the caligari monthly comp. |

I like this, it's a change of style and look which is nice to see, and very well done at that.
I hope we'll be seeing lots of entries into the gallery from the forums, SMC, and MMC this month!
Thanks!

Great stuff. These are the kinds of images that remind me of the possibilities with trueSpace. |

Just a quick idea , but how does it look if you render a 'taller-than-it-is-wide' format to echo the scroll hanging on the wall? You may need to model a bit more of the floor and ceiling. It might play off the existing horizontal composition. |

Im not sure whether the image is getting too cluttered now, ive modelled a BONSAI! :) and will probably remove the flute, i did a bundle of tests with various lighting changes and renders to try and show more of the external tree shadows on the screen, ive also moved things around a little and the lamp is a little too transparent but guys let me know whether its improving or going backwards :)
