I did a complete reinstall of TS7.6 and VRay 1.53 after removing all traces of old installs.
I didn't reuse any previous textures, scenes or objects.
VRay selected as editor

Scene loaded.
Clicked Library Tab
Selected VRay Materials from Stack
Double click on Bronze Material to load and open Material Editor
Left click on on top left small sphere open VRay Color Shader Library.
Crash

Nowhere in scene is Bronze Material used. All Materials crash at other times.(Always when I left click one of the 4 small spheres)
I thought my original install was not done correctly
but this is not the case. After fresh install same problems.
I crash very often with this build using the Material Editor. Never crashed using 7.5
Not Happy!

Today I have Core Dumped 10 times. If a fix is coming for this problem I will continue using tS. If not I cannot wait another year with these problems.
The other problem is when I exit Application I cannot restart App without rebooting.
How many reboots today you ask?
25!!!
This is crazy.

Steinie, you don't have to click on the balls to load the VRay shader libraries. Have you tried manually opening the shader libraries from the Library browser and using them that way as a work-around instead?

Keep in mind if you click on one of the balls while that library is open it will crash. This is because of a change that only allows one copy of a library to be open at a time. (The crashing part is a bug.) So don't click on any of the balls if you are opening the libraries manually.

Note this also applies to the bitmap library as well.

"Keep in mind if you click on one of the balls while that library is open it will crash."
What is your definition of open? When I selected Bronze, the library was loaded in the Stack but not Open.
So Open is when the tab is used or is it Open when you load it to the Stack?

Yes I just discovered that I could do a work around by using the tabs. (Late last night) This way does not crash my session.

Just so everyone reading this stuff knows, everything else in trueSpace 7.6 works great. I can load scene after scene with out problems. Boolean crashes
seem to be a thing of the past. Everything else seems to me very stable. All the tools work great!

If the library is loaded in the stack clicking on the ball will crash TS. This is a known bug. :(

Bingo!
Just like 7.5 I would have the libraries loaded into the Stack. To me that is not "Open"
"Open to me is when you expose the contents of the Library. So this is an existing known bug.
Thanks Jack and everyone for taking the time to examine this problem.

Now a question.
Why does the libraries now open into separate windows outside the stack?

The material system has been completely re-written for 7.6 to allow for multiple render engine specific materials on the same object. You can see this when you go to the advanced aspect of the material editor. Also (hopefully) solved by the re-write were issues of materials getting lost when using the bridge. My guess is that Caligari will want to get these remaining issues resolved for the upcoming patch. ;) I'm asking for UI improvements as well, so if you guys have ideas for improvements make sure to post them. Judging by the wait between 7.51 and 7.6, it's a long wait for the next version if the changes you want miss the patch.

BTW, one of the cool new features of the new material system is that you can set the DX9 material and VRay materials separately so that you can have a better realtime representation of the VRay material by using custom DX shaders.

Well tell the Devs to get those library window back into the Stack where they belong! Nothing but clutter this way.

Here is another suggestion. Why would they put "Default Context" Icon next to "Generate New Space"? in the Default settings. Too dangerous!

Here is another one I brought up before as an issue and now I'm proving it.

Create a cube and a spot light.
Pick "World Coordinate System" axis control
Select the "Move" Icon
If you move the box it goes in and out.
If you move the spot light it goes up and down.
By the way ALL the coordinates settings make the spot light move up and down!
Now you have a scene set up and I'm fighting like mad to get this stupid spot light to move the right way. The objects in the scene move one way, I pick the Spot Light and off it goes in another! Make everything consistent!!!

Edit: Spotlight controls are actually worse then I thought. The movement depends on the direction the Spot Light is Pointing. If the Spot Light is pointed up or down then movement is in and out. If the Spot Light is pointed forward or backward it moves up and down. How do you remember this stuff when setting up a scene? Moving lights should be as natural as moving a mouse.

Totally agree about the spotlight it's a hideous control scheme. You can encapsulate it in 3D then use the object widget to move it around. If you do a search, other solutions have been posted as well. ;)

Yes! I did a search and what did I find? TrueBlue's Spotlight with all the fixes you could imagine. Control by widget? YES! View from Spotlight? YES! Shadow Control Switch? YES! Attenuation? YES!
What shocks me is only THREE downloads so far?
Get this one people it's a keeper.

Between TrueBlue and Stan's stuff I couldn't be happier. These are the guys that I really appreciate! They work in the Shadows like Ninjas.:D
