I've put this together for the SMC and when I try to render, it hits around 50% of pass 4 and then truespace crashes quite spectacularly. There's nothing too complicated in this and have rendered more complicated models before. Also, the materials used are all standard Vray materials.

The system I'm rendering on is a core 2 1.86 with 2gb ram. I sat and watched the memory for truespace tick upwards until it hits about 1.9gb of memory then it crashes...every time. It renders fine without HDRI enabled but not how I want it to look. I think I have Vray 1.52 installed.

Ahhh, the 2 Gb limit

Go to the Garage forum and download the ARender (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=5549) plugin ; it will solve your problem :)

I'll give that a try. However, it's all pretty much done in workspace so dunno if it will work.

Thanks Emmanuel

Hi Brotherx, I just tried to render in vray and it would shut down truespace when half done. I rendered realtime and lightworks ok. First one is realtime with a little bloom/scene intensity on and supersampling on. Second one is lightworks. I do have 4 gigs of ram so memory should not be the problem. I will try some more with vray to see if I can figure out the problem. Wonder why this will not VRAY with 4 gigs of ram???

Thanks J.

As it happens, I did get it to render once when I changed the GI settings. from -3,0 to -3,-1

then adjusted the scene, saved and tried again...boom.

I'm wondering if it's the shader on the window.

You are right. That works for me too. I bet it is shader on window. Maybe an expert will comment.

Ok, Update here. Having got my home PC going I decided to go with VRay 1.51 as I knew 1.52 has a few issues. Loaded the scene and hit render. it worked without incident. looked like rubbish but I suspect that's got nothing to do with Vray, more likely the HDRI and lighting in general, and of course my lack of understanding of them. The other thing to note was that TrueSpace was only using 1.3gb of ram as opposed to maxing out so there seems to be a definite memory issue with the vray 1.52.
