I started work on this yesterday and thought I'd share.

I've started a model of the Galileo Seven, from the star trek original series.

I've only put perhaps at most 2 hours into it and it is a rough shape. Had to start it again a couple of times too as I kept messing things up.

With any luck I'll finish this one....

good start, are you going to model the hairy monsters that throw spears at it in one of the episodes?

I wish....not that good. Funnilly, or not, that episode was called galileo 7 and they destroyed the shuttlecraft in it trying to escape a planet.

Man, I'm such a geek for knowing that.

When i was a kid that was one of about 6 episodes we had on tape (the BBC didn't repeat them till some time in the 90's i think), it wasn't one of my favorites.

My mum used to like star trek so from a very young age (6-7) I used to watch them. My dad would watch paint dry if it was on the telly. They used to show it on BBC 2 at 6pm on a monday or wednesday and the other night was a sci-fi b movie like this island earth, forbidden planet or buck rogers/BSG/flash gordon or something like that. I was an instant fan of all things sci-fi after that.

I've done a bit more and at lunch i should get more still done so will post an update later.

I actually never watched much telly when i was young but never missed the 6pm sci-fi shows - was more interested in lego or going out and climbing trees.

I figure it must've been late 70's or early 80's because I would refuse to go to the youth club until I watched my sci-fi program and you had to be 8 to join...which was 1980.

Ok, an update.

I've shaped the back a little and added more detail to the nacelles/engines/whatever they are. Still a lot of detailing to go yet. There are like fins along the roof, and the landing gear as well. I'm hoping to also model the cabin but might wait until I get Season 1 on DVD so I can grab some stills from it.

I've still got a ways to go but I'm making progress which is good.

And so far, no crashes...awesome.

Ok, since last week I've not done much but I did manage to model the engine at the back, no details yet, and some detailing around the front and along the roof. The lighting is a little funny at the back. There's also some extra geometry at the back I need to clear out but I'm slowly getting there. No news on the dribbles yet (oops, tribbles, sorry)
