Hi all

Sorry to be a pain but totally new to Truespace and am trying to work thru the Viperfish video, fact is I load a plane and try to rotate it 90 degrees so it stands up vertically. The rotate on X and Z work perfectly but I cannot however rotate on the Y axis?? Please can someone, anyone, throw some light on my problem?

Thanks in advance

Russ

Do you have the Y axis locked? Clicking on the X, Y, or Z in the icon bar locks that axis.

Thanks Russ. :)

Hope that solved it for you.

I'm going to be mostly offline for the next week so if your question gets missed, feel free to bump the thread and I'll try to help out more then. Best of luck!

Hi there,

Hope you don't mind be hijacking your thread a little. I, too, am a beginner with truespace 7.6 (although I had attempted to learn both versions 3 and 5 previously but never quite got there!). I am also doing the viperfish tutorial and have 2 issues... Well done, Caligari, by the way, for making this free!

1) At some point in the process, I don't know whether I had accidentally set something or unset something but the middle mouse button stopped moving the view around the selected object. It would still pan left, right, up or down, but using ctrl or shift with the middle mouse button made no difference. I eventually got this working on another object, having resorted to rebooting, but on the viperfish, no change.

2) When I came to start the eye socket section of the tutorial, and tried to draw in the eye socket, the pencil pointer and vertex were misaligned. The vertex created was on a face over toward the nose of the fish and no amount of trying would get it to create the edges where the eye socket was supposed to be. Is this a bug or a setting? This was on a copy of the fish loaded from the tutorial library for the start of that particular section. I can provide a picture, if necessary.
