EDIT: Let me just say this: "MAN DO I FEEL SILLY!" LoL!!!

Okay, I figured it out... the way I tend to work in TS, and with matericals in general... I've till this very moment never discovered that it was the COLOR channel that was causing the "issue." I set it all the way to "white" and the problem is resolved-

thanx to anyone who took the time to read this, I appreciate it... I'm leaving my silly question up (though my ego is telling me to do otherwise) incase anyone in the future ever happens upon the same silly mistake as me-

I've experienced this issue since back in ts 6, and it plagues me to this day-

sometimes, when I go to use the default glass shader while virtualight is selected as the current renderer in TS, the glass will show up in the material panel as BLACK-

It also looks this way in the final render, however, the shadow and caustic effect get rendered out perfectly?

Does anyone else experience this, and has a solution, or cause of the problem been found as'yet?

It's becoming quite a bother and just the thought of using the transparent shader for vlight causes my hair to fall out

Hi membrain,

I usually don't use perfect white for color in 3D since in the real world most things are not perfect white, but rather an off-white or light gray. It also doen't give you any room for reflective effects without blowing out the hightlights on render.

So you may want to try stepping the white back a bit to give the render engine a bit of room to work with. ;)
