Hi, having a problem with the 4-view layout and not sure if this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong? I've also found a bug, but more on that in a moment.

http://baa.ovine.net/ts751small.png
Click here for a full size version (http://baa.ovine.net/ts751.png).

I seem to only be able to click on the model tab in one of the four viewports. Nothing happens if I click on the same tabs in other viewports if one is already showing the modelling view. Shouldn't I be able to do that?

Also, if you look at the larger version of that screen shot, you will see that I have some how managed to make the tabs disappear from the rop right viewport. This is the first bug, which I can get to happen occasionally but not every time. I'm just clicking between the Workspace and Model tabs, sometimes on the Model tab of other viewports in-between too.

Another bug I have found, and this one happens less, is I click on the 3D button at the top of each of the four viewports and I select 4D or 1D. When I click on it again, 2D and 3D have sometimes disppeared. The only way to get it back is to restart Truespace.

One time I got a crash that shut down Truespace after selecting one of the remaining options but I've not seen that happen since.

I've just put 7.5 back on and it seems I can not change the 4view to show the Model view there either, although I thought I had got that set up that way. I want to have a top, left and front view in model view and one in Workspace view.

Can anyone else confirm the issues above and if there are any work arounds for the Model 4-view?

You can only have one model view at a time otherwise model would be bridging with workspace...bridging with model etc.

However, you can have as many workspace views as you want and set them up like model with wireframe grid, views etc.

...or use the 4 view layout that is in the model side.

I've been able to replicate the 3D menu problem a bit more often now...

In the screenshot above, you can see the tabs have gone and the drop down menu only has two options in it, even though I currently have 3D selected which is no longer in that list.

What I did was to click and double click on the Model tab of the other three viewports. Eventually the top left (it seems to be this one that does it more, but then again it might be me clicking there more ;)) viewport lost the tabs. I then clicked on the 3D menu and that's the screenshot above.

Ahhh- you couldn't give me a gentle nudge in the right direction for that could you? EDIT: found it, got my bearings now

I've come from GameSpace 1.6 and I use the 4 way view as that is what I'm most comfortable with. But I guess the other issues I describe above are still relevant.

When you have the 1D 4D problem just select your layout tab at the top and all will be well again. What is happening is you are selecting the orange triangle instead of the 1D/2D/3D/4D menu, they are two different functions.
As Splinters has suggested you can only have one Model view opened at one time in Workspace.
From you first post it sounds like you are not saving your layout after making changes.
You could set up the 4View on the Workspace side as is and then switch to Model and set up a Quad view then save it. There you would have Quad view on both sides of the Bridge.
Losing your Tabs could be related to switching back and forth from Workspace to Model. I would read about the Bridge in the Manual for a more clear explanation on it's uses and settings.
On the Model side one way is to select this icon:

TrueBlue, what is the function of the Orange Triangle next to the 1D/2D/3D/4D Menu?

Here is a work-around. Switch to model view and select 4 window view - (when I did this I had to adjust my 'crossbars', you may have to also) Find and push the '3D Window' button ( it's down on the big WS toolbar and looks like a blue checker pattern) - size that window to fit. It's a work around, but it does work.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm back on track now.

I'd also like to know what the function of the triangle is (not been bothered to look for it in the PDF yet). Sometimes my model area lights up too much so it becomes a white blur until you turn it off. I'm not worried about that though as I don't seem to need to press it ;)

I'm happy to keep the workspace view as one, now that I have my 4-way view back in the model view.

I still wonder if the issues above with the tabs and buttons is the intended behaviour ? ... but it doesn't stop me doing anything now :D

Exit Context?

Wouldn't that apply to LE ? Doesn't make sense to me here.

2.1.4 Contexts (Projects)
A Context is the state of a space in which you are interacting, together with your preferences and layouts. In addition to the space itself and your presence within it, a context includes the rules of behavior for objects and participants. The image below sums up some of these concepts: The relationship between contexts and participants Everything in trueSpace is context dependent, and the meaning of any action may change as you move from context to context. For example, you can control a tricycle object in a street "play" context by rotating its pedals or rotating its handlebars to steer. By right-clicking on the tricycle, you can exit the "play" context and enter an "edit" context, where you can modify the tricycle by adding, for example, a bell to its handle bars. You can create and edit individual spaces and save them as scenes, but sometimes it is useful to save a complete context, i.e. a space together with a layout containing your views and other tools. You save a context into a Project library.
