TS 7.5 Shutdown Errors? // Bugs

TS 7.5 has started giving me the following error popups when I close the program. Usually I'll get an error on the next startup as well. This is happening on files where I'm doing material work in modeler mode, especially painting faces, which doesn't work consistently on the modeler side.

(Yeah, I know about workspace mode. I'm just so used to TS 6 I'm working my way over gradually.):o

I hate to call if a bug when it's probably me doing something "illegal". The bridge is set to "Auto" and seems to be tracking changes between the two modes.

Any Ideas out there?

I just googled for this error.

Some said their pc was to fast, some said it could be a trojan.

which operating system do you use?

I'm using XP Home. The processor is a 64-bit dual core, 2 Gig RAM & a 1024 Nvidia.

Scanned the system with Panda (antivirus) and everything comes up clean.

Too fast? Never considered that to be a problem before! Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. :)

Did you already tested the german="Kompatiblitätsmodus"

If you right click on the TS7.exe you can choose an older

operating system. Maybe it's better for your 64bit processor.

Only an idea...

I hadn't thought of compatability mode. It's certainly worth a try. I'll try it when I get home tonight.

Interesting results........... I changed compatability to Windows 2K and the problem went away. I changed compatability back to NT and the trouble is still gone. Ain't technology wonderful?

Thanks for the help, Wigand!

I have almost identical hardware config as you.

But if I run TS7.5 (Win2000 environment), the system will suddently halt without any warning or it will simply close TS7.5 and jump back to the Windows.

Now I use XP pro, but the error is still here to stay.

If the problem arises because "the PC is too fast", then Caligari should inform users. I purchased a faster PC just to run TS7.5.l

I'm not really sure that speed is the issue here. So far, I have been able to replicate the problem only once.

I seem to get the problem by manipulating the SDS functions alternately in both workspace and model modes, while playing with the paint faces feature in each mode. Obviously, this is going to create issues between the two modes as the SDS feature is not interchangeable between workspace and model. (If you suvdivide in worspace, you can't un-subdivide it in model. This is no big deal....just interesting.)

At this point, I'm thinking that I'm building an impossible situation for the TS the bridge to reconcile. When exiting, my PC gets tired of waiting on TS and gives me the popups?

Right now I'm wondering if I'm not corrupting the program with this little experiment. I'm planning to uninstall/reinstall TS and start experimenting with a clean slate.

I think that the real problem here is between the keyboard and the chair. I've just been intentionally doing something the program was not designed for.

If I find any further discoveries I'll post them. For now, I suggest you do ALL your SDS functions in one mode or the other.

Thanks Davd_K.

I will try not to switch bewteen ws and model too often. Before I manage the new UI of TS7.5, I may still have to switch sometime.

Problems occured when I tried to add hair to a COB created by TS6.6 or even 3.2. The hair will always rest on the face. And when I move the object, the hair move away from the object instead of sticking to the place where it should be. It was really frustrating.

Hair works perfect only if you apply hair to the object created in TS7.5.

And I still stuck with this problem. Can you help ?

Actually, I've never used hair except for a TSX plug-in back in TS5. Wish I could be more help on that one.

I know that several of my TS5 & 6 files have some interesting quirks when I open them in 7.5. I did a lot of edge extrude poly models using an aftermarket TSX and 7.5 seems to have a heck of a time with orienting the faces. This may be the same fundamental issue you're having with hair.

Hopefully, a kindly beta tester will pass by this thread and be able to give you more than guesses.

Hint! Hint! Any hair gurus out there?
