Do you see the difference?

The object stands direct on the grid. but if you move back, the grid

breaks into the object.

yes I noticed that with my own grids too..the 'in front' option on widgets has no effect [it use to in 7.11]..not sure why it would happen to the stock grid:confused:

Although I haven't replicated it lately, I had inadvertently made a rectangle "hairy", and since I hadn't really checked out hair yet, I thought I'd back out and take a look. As I backed out, the hair proportionately separated from its host rectangle in the same way that the grid here seems to disagree with its relative position to your cube.


I suspect the same underlying idiosyncrasies are to blame.
