See the little sliders at the tip of the black arrow in my screen grab?

Now it's not so much a bug as it is "buggy" that when I drag these left or right, it's as if the effect is updating during the drag (like on the transmission slider) making it difficult to set to an intended number by the click+drag method.

Ideally, the number in the box should be the only thing updated during the drag for optimal visual feedback. The effect should only be processed after the mouse button is released, or after a single value has remained unchanged for a short amount of clock cycles.

Does anyone else agree? And if so, then please Caligari, would you implement these types of controls in that manner.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback...I was beginning to think I was the only one put off by this. :)

Also, why doesn't every numerical input (as seen in your screenshot) have a slider next to it? I'm sure there's some way to add them in the link editor, but I really don't want to do that for every single panel.

I agree with the initial comment.

Perhaps someone with a 4 cpu multicore doesn't have the problem! - perhaps their realtime update of the material display actually happens in realtime. Maybe Caligari are expecting this to be the functional norm in the very near future.

Having said that its a nuisance now!

I'm not sure what it's working on while you drag the sliders, but it's definitely thinking about something.

The entire stack panel (although it is coming along very nicely) could stand a bit of performance optimization: when you scroll the group of panels vertically you see flicker, too - at least on my P4 2.66GHz I do, which I think should be quite sufficient to scroll smoothly.

So maybe it's updating the material, maybe it isn't. Either way, the fact remains that it is desperately in need of improvement.

The upcoming patch sounds promising enough (per the Cap's blog) - maybe this gets fixed in it maybe not, we'll see...but I'm eagerly anticipating the added functionality that "might surprise me". :D Hmm...what could it be?
