As a sidenote to my Ambient Light not selectable where i stumbled across the fact that i couldn't open modeler in a small 3D window, i found it out.

You can just have one Modeler Window opened at all.

Impossible to set the workspace to modeler now. Because the small window is still modeler view. And you need to set both windows to workspace view to open a modeler view in the big window now:

While this may be a design issue and is surely meant this way to just have one modeler window opened, i would be happy to get at least a warning why it refuses to open :)

Technically Tiles, it is due to the bridge constraints and the fact that the model side is effectively legacy. You cannot bridge model to model within the workspace which is effectively what you would need to do if you opened more than one model view. You can have more than one in model side as it does not have to bridge with the workspace.

Of course this is just useless exposition as it does not help clarifiy it in use...perhaps the manual could state this clearly...I have not checked it...

It's an absolute necessity to only allow one Model view open at any given time. Having two open would mean that you would be able to do illegal operations such as different point edit operations simultaneously on the same geometry in the different model views. Also the multiple Bridge synchronisation issues would be unresolveable. That would lead to the two model views fighting over the same geometry - crashes, lock-ups and user wailings would be guaranteed.

As stated, it's not about being able to open just one modeler window. I understand the reasons and the issues that stands behind now that i think further. It really makes no sense to open a second modeler window :)

What i'm complaining is that i don't get a warning or inactivated icons. It looks like i may open as much modeler in a small window as i like. Because the tab is available and active. But when there still is an opened modeler window, the tab does nothing :)

I agree with Tiles on this one.

The other model tabs should be grayed out or something, or a pop-up with a check box "don't show this again" like for PE on a linked object.
