Just to clarify what i meant with navigation speed is too high in workspace.

It is mainly the zoom which gives me the trouble. But all other navigation depends to the zoom too, and moves too quick for my flavour. When i cannot zoom to an area or to the needed zoom factor i am lost with the other navigation.

Grid is off. And i am using the Move/Rotate/Scale Buttons to navigate. Widget is not my world.

Let's create a cube with 1 meter. Now when i zoom in i reach very quick zooming steps that simply went too fast.

Two screenshots for this. Zoom in so that the cube has this size in screen:

Now i zoom one little mouse movement further. The smallest possible zoomstep i am able to do.

Now we are here:

This smallest possible zoomstep in this zoom is simply too big. Remember, this is a 1 meter cube. And nothing really small. One more zoomstep and the cube fills more than the whole screen.

Sure, you may get used to this after a while. But what about the cases where you want to adjust something in 0.050 range? You cannot zoom to this area in the current way. Either is it too small to do useful changes then, or it is this big that the lines are out of workspace.

I also need sometimes to fit a groundplane to the screenborders. So that i can render a fitting iso tile for example. Which doesn't work here. Either the groundplane is 5 cm away from the workspace border. Or it is 5 cm outside of the workspace.

try r-drag on view nav triangle. It will zoom smoother than scrollwheel or screen scale. There is also rect zoom.

I'll fix that scaling speed for 7.51; it is too fast indeed.

Thanks. Zoom/Rotate/Move speed like with the r-drag at the view nav triangle would be excellent :)

Or, as suggested in another thread, why not implement something like a speed movement feature. With activation, move double or triple as fast? Just a thought :)

Ah, while still at it, r-drag at the view nav triangle zooms in and out in the orthogonal views as i found out before a few moments. But in perspectivic view it moves the space up and down instead zooming. That's why i was always confused about the advice to r-drag at the view nav triangle for zooming. Shouldn't it also zoom in the perspectivic view?

move is there due to "compability" with modeler. scaling is in perspective only availabe through scroll wheel or fov tool; but it shouldn't be a problem to alter the behavior of view widget. Unfortunately no time to do this for 7.51.
