This morning TS 7.5 crashed 4 times when I tried to render text with a transparency shader at the workspace side. As soon as the renderer encountered the first character, TS quit.
I reduced the text to one character, but then it also quit.
I made a new scene with only one character, same.
Rendering the same text in Lightworks and VRay on the modeler side did not cause any problems.
Later I changed the text in modeler side to standard grey (I reset the material editor) and rendered it again in the workspace. Then the problems were over.
I created the first shader on the modeler side. |

Burisman can you post the scene that crashes VRay? The devs can use that to hunt the crash bug down.

Yep Jack, you're right, I should have thought about that myself. Thanks.
I will post it as soon as I have found it. |

About a week go I mailed Tech support about same thing; they could not reproduce crash though.
As soon as render bucket reached one of the letters, 75 crashed.
Bridge was on. After turning it off no more crashes on workspace.
Btw, currently running Win2000pro, if there may be any issues there have not yet tested on XP.
Further up and farther in :) |

Thank you for reminding me Roman.
Yes. And. After having worked with the scene for a while (without the text), a few seconds ago the same scene crashed again, when I inserted the same text with the same shader.
The text is made transparent (which is purely coincidental by the way, I had made a transparent shape in the background to determine the position of windows in the building, and I didn't reset the ME when creating the text, so it inherited the transparency).
(The scene is to be a reconstruction of a late medieval fortified farm, later modified into a country house, hence the reference pictures, which are old prints).
I put the text in, just to see how it worked, there is no need for it to be transparent, but the occurrence might be of interest to you.
I hope this is helpful.
(Woops, When I wanted to render a reference picture for the forum it stopped again).

I wanted to post a couple of shots in here for Caligari support of Model and Workspace windows to illustrate that Workspace lighting is very much brighter and washed-out than the Model window. Everything in whiteout and attenuating the Workspace lighting meant that the Model window was now way too dark
During the Workspace Vray render TS7.5 disappeared as if it had never been with no error messages
This happened once before last week while selecting an object in the Workspace. TS7.5 just vanished. I think I was about to Copy an object when it happened, working on floorboards after texturing the first board, selecting faces and bevelling to create cracks between the boards where dust collects
Is there an error log generated or some way to collect information to submit to Caligari support I wonder? Applications rarely just vanish during an operation and both times I was working in the Vray window so a bit mysterious. Starting up again both times all was ok but staying with 7.11 for now

I just reminded our developers to test this scene. |

Burisman, the crash in your scene was due to a sporadic bug with glass materials, which has already been fixed for the update. |
