In workspace view, the "Mirror Modeler" appears to do things; however, the "Mirror" tool does nothing.
Am I using it wrong, or does it just not have any code attached to it? |

Seems to work here. Make cube enter into Point Editing and select face. Select Mirror Modeler tool and begin editing one half of the cube. |

Try creating a cylinder, select some contiguous faces and then click it:

Go into Point Edit Mode and it should work. Hmmm... Seem to be flipping faces though
if faces are selected. Will check it out. Seems to work if no faces are selected. |

I see...following Jack's example (and thanks to all replies) I see that it mirrors the contour of a surfae! A very, very useful feature now that I see it in action.
I originally made a cube, and to test it I just selected a single face and clicked it, thinking that it would mirror everything on the other side of the selected face as if it were a mirroring plane - it appeared as if it did nothing in that regard.
I love the mirrored contour instead!
Nevermind. :o |

Hehehe Neat tool, but the real question is: is that what it's really supposed to do??? Only the developers know... :p

I played around with it and somehow managed to get it to flip the entire object, not just selected faces. Now I can't replicate how I did it. In 6.6 it works on the whole object. |

mirror tool:when there is no selection, mirror mirrors whole opbject - it also flips normals so obj is not "inside out". if selection is present, only selected area is morrored without normals flipping (countour mirror).
Mirror modeler: when there is no selection, X axis is used as mirror plane; otherwise best fit plane is calculated from selection and it is used as mirror (you can pick points, edges, ... and mirror plane will go through them so you can for example pick edge loop around hole and add mirror modeler...) |
