Ok so I decided to get in on this one. Here is my start. The block you see on the ground is my "hobbit" so I can get some scale. The tree you see is still fluid at this moment. I have alot of work on it.

Ok made some updates to the terrain. I have taken a different approach than I was going to do. I also added a fence.

from "The Hobbit", I think that the top of your hill should be a bit more rounded. this one looks more like stone with a layer of ground over it. Other than that, it looks very good.

yeah I have been trying to get that hill right. The ground texture will undergo a lot of changes. What you are seeing here is the base.

I like the texture of the gorund. I think you've done good with it. If you round out the top and put a tree there, then your hobbit would have a nice place to read a book. Perhaps "There and Back Again". :D

Coming along nicely - not being picky but shouldn't the door be round?

Looks like your Hobbits getting his very own pond - cool!

Ok I did not like the current hobbit house. It looked to modern for my taste and not whimsical (sp?) enough. So here is the start of a new hobbit house.

A stump would be more of a gnome house... But it looks nice!

Well I am flipping and flopping more than John Kerry on the campaign trail! took Kena's advice and made this more hobbity! I did some research and I like this more than the other one and the tree. Still alot to go, but here is the start.

updated house. I think instead of doing a complete scene as I was. I am goingn to focus on this house. Question. How do I use GI and not get all the differnt shadows? I can't seem to just get the shadows to come from one area like the sun does. That is using 100 samples.

to get the sun to come from one place, you need a single light source in your GI image. remember that sometimes shadows are from reflected light.

Well Kena the problem with the reflected light is that the house is sitting in space. Nothing to reflect the light. If I used what I think I did, the image is overcast I think. There is no definate sun. I do have one where I made sure that the sun is in it. I think one issue is that they are not real .hdr images. They are just pictures I took and I use them in GI.

Ok did some more work on the house. I added the wood boards. I still have one side to do and then more detail work. The sky is just for show..not the final image.

from this angle, the sky looks pretty good. Just punch a hole in the hill - add that last side and texture - you would be done.
