Since quite a while all floating icons start to disappear in model view. When I switch to another app via alt+tab and back, they reappear again, just until I move the mouse cursor around in modeler. When I hover over the icons, they appear as well. The embedded icons don't show this behavior, just free floating icon's/icon groups.

Happens with various display driver versions, including newest catalyst 7.1.

edit: only happens with direct3d drawing mode, in openGL I see a flicker from time to time, but icons stay visible.

That happens when I switch to player, some remains of the model window shine through where floating icons have been. Sometimes the (modeler) icons show up as well.

hmmm ... have not seen this before.
It looks like graphics card related. What kind of card are you using? Model + memory?

Then wonder if anyone else uses that card who can check for us. Could be driver related though.

... including newest catalyst 7.1. ... Sapphire Radeon X600 Pro, newest drivers.

The X600 should have 256 MB DDR2 Ram when i remember correct :)

My guess is also the graphics drivers. I remember that i had similar artifacts and problems with TS66 at my ancient system. AMD k6-2/450 with 128 MB Ram and a Ati rage with 32 MB Ram. At least TS 6.6 started ... :D

I had also similar trouble with older drivers and TS 6.6 at an AMD XP 2000+ some years ago. Not this worse and massive than shown here. But disappearing meshes in DX mode or strange artifacts around the buttons for example. It needed four new Catalyst versions and over a year before those problems were gone.

At my current system everything works fine at that end.

Yes, Sapphire Radeon X600 Pro 256MB, 1GB Kingston system RAM, Newest catalyst drivers (7.1 from January 10th 2007). I tried to uninstall and reinstall all ATI drivers with no success. It also happened with older drivers as well.

For those who are interested in how it looks in realtime, I captured a video:

I've been searching the ATI knowledge base for "flickering" and "redraw" but haven't found anything that could lead me into the right direction.

Reinstalling ts7 brought back the Player/Modeler tabs, but still the same problem with floating icons.

Btw, ts6.6 works like a charm, no problems there.

I've never seen that specific problem GraySho, though I have had various bouts of tS weirdness in the past. 1 thing I should mention: I remember reading on the ATI site that they say not to update your drivers unless you actually have a problem with the ones you're currently using - after all, sometimes new versions of software can introduce new bugs.

If it's of any help, I'm using a Saphire X800 GTO 256MB, which although faster than your X600 should be the same in terms of actual functionality, & I just checked, & apparently I'm still using Catalyst version 6.6.
