Hi again.. I found Another Bug on VRAY and GI...
I cant find the words to explain in english... mmmm
The GI light cant pass throw object with no cast shadows options..
Try this.. create a dome... like a sky.. and now.. you must select on object render options deselect cast shadows and recive shadow...
And you cant render inside the dome with GI..
BTW.. The texture of the dome must without any Luminisence.. because that create a fake GI...
Best regards.... |

And thats is another problem.. because how you can create a dome with a sky if you need to see cleary the texture with good bright but you dont wont the texture generate light colors..????
Must be an shader like LW Constant but without any light effect... only the texture...
Im very sad because i cant use anymore Infinit2 with Vray.. THE BEST SKY SOFTWARE EVER...
Best regards
PLUS!!
When you use HDRI.. the GI doesnt work.. thats be a GREAT GREAT IDEA.. When HDRI LIGHT INTENSITY IS 0 Gi Works.. and you get.. GI + THE HDRI REFLECTIONS!!!..
Hdri. its good but is to slow and sometimes we need speed but GOOD reflections... HDRI RULES ON REFLECTIONS... and you kill 2 birds..with a single Shot. .. TS user have Panoramic on TS... |

As far as I know, the cast shadows is a checkbox for the raytrace calculations, excluding the object from those. however, that doesn't exclude objects from the GI calculation. At the moment there is no method for excluding an object from the GI calculations (which are a different pass / calculation from the raytraced shadows I believe).
HTH!
Tom
EDIT - so not a bug, but a feature request. Everything works as it should, but the request is for a new feature "please make it possible to exclude an object from a GI calculation" :) |

Hmm also you should be able to take the skydome out, calculate and save the GI solution, then reload the skydome and render with the saved GI solution. |

Hehe, I'll ask :) I think though it might not be trivial (or might not be possible) to exclude an object from GI calculations, but I'll ask and see!
The workaround I think will work for letting the rest of the scene be illuminated - using a Constant shader on the skydome would probably be the best way to "light" it in the final render. Do let me know how it works out (or if it works out).
HTH!

The problem is.. thats happen to HDRI too..
That problem doesnt happen on HDRI on lightworks
but yes to hdri on vray..
Yes.. Vray work with mapping.. and Lightworks with raytrace.. thats maybe the problem..
Realy i dont found any workarrond to get a preaty 360 panoramic to simulate sky.. without lost of the render..
and postprocess the sky with alpha its not a solution..8(
Best regards.. |

What happened if you calculated GI without the skydome, then added it back in for the render using the saved GI solution?
